Always fun on Mog holidays to get a beer and watch the arriving 4 seaters trying to erect or take down the hoods. I find giving lots of advice helps the owners mood immeasurably.

It is definitely an art.
I tend to put the hood up late October and leave it on till Feb (she is stored outside in all weathers). In the summer, I rarely use it, just relying on the tonneau cover and waterproofs....

Now with practice you can put the 4 seater hood up in under a minute… people seem to make a big fuss about putting up the transitional hood but it’s not that tricky…
The hood tension leavers make a massive difference!

The hood tension leavers make a massive difference! I'd struggle with a 'minute' - takes that long just to get the four side screens out their bags - but I'm fairly adept at it these days. I reckon under 10 minutes. The hood tensioners do help, when warm I don't need them, but when the temperature drops, it makes the job much easier. I made my own set, but unfortunately they're not available for sale anywhere.

Arwyn, Do you have a pic of it? Must be as rare as hens teeth with under 10 made..
Always wondered about getting a hard tip for my 4 seater but the prospect was always to expensive and too difficult..
Thanks Will

Pat L I have only just read your thread ref changing a plus 4 4 seater into a 2 seater. Well I am in the process of doing just that .I have had my plus 4 since the mid 70s,having completely restorered it. I like the looks of the 2 seater better so I decided to alter it.The car is a 1960 high line plus 4, which may make it easier to convert. It is not difficult as long as you can source the ash needed, and you can do the woodwork, and panel work needed. The most difficult part is bending the ash side pieces, down along the rear wheel arch, but I just fabricated a steamer,2 hours steaming, later and bent the timber into shape.I havnt got round to the panel work yet,but will panel it in aluminium.I have made 2 new wooden doors, but the rest of the frame is ok.I plan to use the existing petrol tank ,springs and shackles.I will have to source a lower windscreen and hood frame. If you want any pictures,or more info then please PM me.I live nr Shelsley Walsh hill climb, and you are more than welcome to come and have a look,Duncan

I'd have to say that your concept of " not difficult" may not be shared by all of us! Good luck with it anyway.

Duncan ..... any chance of some pics of your project .... sounds really interesting ..... lucky you, living near Shelsley .... I've spent many a happy weekend thrashing up the hill ... but it's over a 1000 mile round trip for me 😕.

Pat L, I love 4-seaters and can probably swap some 2-seater parts for your 4-seater parts. I have a beautiful chrome windshield (less glass) assembly for a 60's Plus 4. I would be willing to buy a 2-seat hood frame from Morgan spares to swap for yours. I might have the sidescreens you need, but they're ratty.
Have you decided on the style of 2-seater? I personally prefer the bustleback style, as fitted to 1957 and 1958 roadsters.
