Since this seems to be a problem in Australia I wonder if the shipping company is pulling the car right down on one side to strap it down during the long sea voyage. If this is the case Morgan needs to fit something in the suspension to block it at normal ride height during sea transport.

I mentioned this factor in my earlier post because I remembered that we had loads of trouble with cars shipped from Japan in the 70's which had been badly strapped down during shipment: uneven spring ride heights and "squared" tyres in particular. It happened with leaf springs as I recall - I don't believe we had trouble with coils. Of course, those early shippers were soon "brought to book", and then with the explosion of Japanese car exports the car companies used their own ships, so the problem never recurred.
Come to think of it - there were problems later with Alfas from Italy (surprise!) with coil springs: these were sorted by using blocks - sometimes metal, sometimes rubber - which locked the coils solid, and had to be removed by the dealers upon arrival.
I wonder whether the shippers going to Oz are as rigorous as they should be with the tiny number of Morgans being exported?

I think you both have very valid points. Seems very strange that the cars entering Australia are having this problem. I am not sure if this is happening to the Uk cars, but I suspect that someone would have shouted by now, if that was the case. Perhaps an email to MMC, pointing out the apparent problem and asking them to check how the cars are shipped. It might be that the shipping company are not aware of the damage they could be causing.

A very worthwhile suggestion. It does seem strange that my car, the one delivered before mine and at least the one after all have the same problem. Thank you all for your comments.

I have just followed the instructions with the Castrol spray wax and it has worked 100% on my Roadster. Thank-you for the valuable advice

Got the car back after a new set of rear springs were fitted under warranty and what a difference! Gave the car a good run last weekend on a range of different road surfaces and so far so good. For the first time since I got the car it was real fun to drive.

Nice to here that your problem has been sorted. Did you change the standard shocks for something better while the car was in the workshop?
If not it is worth while doing a bit of research on the topic of shocks. General consensus is that better quality shocks, which do not cost much, make a huge difference. I have ordered the Gaz adjustable shocks to be fitted at the factory before I even take delivery but if I was fitting shocks myself I would fit the AVO version designed specifically for Morgans.

Decided to sort out the basic issues with the rear suspension first. The new springs have made a significant difference straight up so I will see how that fix goes before I consider new shocks.

Did they change only the shocks absorbers or also the leaf suspensions. You mention that they have removed the block at one side!!.I am trying to improve the ride of my 4/4 sport since 2 month. After a call to the factory they admitted they have a problem with the 4/4 sport and they suggest to add wheight at the rear .I am trying now with a sand bag of 25 kgs .It is a little better but this is a strange method for a new car.

OZ 4/4 Glad things have improved; are the new springs 4 leaf ? Reason I ask is that my new 4/4 has 4 leaf and is rather soft on the rear so will be trying some AVO shocks. It has been suggested that the factory have had issues with their spring supplier in the past. Bob
