I was doing the usual what-would-I-buy walk around Pistonheads classified this morning.

£100k gets you a loaded PlusFour or something a little but pre-loved.

You will definitely not get the same love out on the road as you would in the Morgan.

I always liked these - a kind of poor mans Stratos..

Agree .... nearly bought one way back before they were noticed .... ended up buying a Scimitar instead .... the GTE was more practical at the time but if I'd got the AC I would probably still have it ... I think it's another car that benefits from a handy owner to sort the niggles.

Snap - we ran a GTE (SE5a) here and Germany for three years and it was a perfect Autobahn cruiser and generally a nice car, like you being handy with the spanners and electrics was an advantage with the separate earths etc.

The first AC I saw was a young middy driving one down here from the college, it created an impression obviously, they both used the Essex engine of course.

Chalk and cheese really - the only common factor is likely a rep for irritating niggly issues. In other respects they are polar opposites with neither car filling the gap left by the lack of modern equivalents of the big Healey, the Elan, the TRs, the Dart not to mention the E type.

To my mind the nearest answer is the MX5

That's the point I guess.

£100k gives you a lot of options.

Not certain I could jack the price of an MX-5 that high if I added aftermarket superchargers, break and suspension!

Again, some "spanner " work required but what about a Hawk Stratos? I wasn't aware this existed but they do seem to be quite popular and most importantly given the cost of a "real" one, affordable and in the correct colours they look great.

Here for a good time not a long time!!

Yes one of these would fit the bill nicely.

A car like the one that drove by yesterday when we were having a great meal?

I must confess that I had never heard of this Reliant until this post.
When it was in front of me, I had to look at the two ear spinner to read the factory name.
