Hello from the Pyrenees. Dear TM readers I am Herman and a Dutch citizen and staying in the south of France, Haute Pyrenees, where we stay in a 100% off-grid house. So wasting some extra CO2 is already compensated for This is my first TM post.
After reading 2 years your forum I am proud to tell you that I am the happy new owner of Steve’s - M3W services France - fantastic Almond green M3W. One of the first made. The VIN# tells me she is created in 2011 and first license plate was beginning 2012. A lot of you will know this vessel and will envy me 😉 and I am honoured that Steve sold it to me. You cannot believe how many updates this beauty has, recently I could buy – with help of Chas and Steve - through TM from Bunny a Stage 2 to install in her. Front Ohlins will be installed by me hopefully coming January. All decisions made from knowledge you shared with me. I want to thank many, many people in the TM forum for all the contributions and the great lessons I took from it before making this decision.
I am - like my partner - what you English do call an “Old Salt”. And am a - just this summer - retired skipper of old Tall Ships and other ocean sailing vessels. We still own the eldest sailing Laurent Giles sloop from 1935, design # 13, but I am afraid I have to sell that one too to a new skipper who takes care for her. I would love to attach port and starboard lights on the top of the front M3W mudguards, but am afraid more people will not like it, I am probably the only one, even my far more clever partner – an artist and designer - is against it.
Having studied math, physics and informatics and been on the Oceans for over 60 years makes me a quit handy man. And my neighbour is the only real Landrover repair specialist here in the Haute Pyrenees, France. I am also very happy with my old Honda African Twin and our VWT3. I do have a lot of plans for this M3W car / motor-trike. Join great tours with others and of course will be found very often in the Pyrenees. I also bought the “worst made car in the world” - as some tell us - because I love working with my hands.
First of all following all the threads about the ‘famous’ Bevel Box and having now a not that silent one - which is quite normal I did understand - I have decided – together with my very knowledgeable neighbour - to first refurbish another M3W Bevel Box to see and understand it better and still driving Steve’s fantastic M3W. It is better to specialize yourselves when others do great jobs with the rest. “Do not invent the wheel”, we have as an expression in Dutch. Reading the many threads about the Bevel Box, I wonder if MMC ever kept their promises to offer the owners a solution. Till know I have seen only promises but no result.
Wanted : A not used or not properly working M3W Bevel Box for sale to be send to France.
Question : How many different types of Bevel boxes are created during the last 10 years? Or are the all nearly the same?
Thank you all again
Herman

Herman ... welcome to the forum ... your M3W sounds to be in good hands
A 'Tall-Ship' Skipper makes you part of a pretty exclusive group ..... I guess 'M3W driver' is the motoring equivalent 😀
Enjoy using your new machine in your beautiful part of the world
Good luck in your hunt for a 'practice' bevel box
K
Ps ..... We too have been completely off-grid for over 30 years .... it used to look like an eccentric thing to do .... but we're not looking as mad now! 😄
