I replaced the battery on my trad Plus8 earlier this year. Like for like Odyssey. The old one was on the car when bought 10years previously. I don’t know when that was originally put on but 10 years is a good life! It was connected to a Ctek when garaged and no problems until a sudden fail to turn the engine. It wouldn’t hold a charge. I hate that type of fail to start. GRRR. Regular checks on battery connections ( especially earths) was a normal routine.
Choice was cheaper battery and expect shorter life or go Odyssey again. Chose the latter. Based on experience and reputation. Been good since.
In 2002 I bought (imported from dealer in Ostende) a Focus td for commuting. Kept for 12 years. Battery lasted 9 so not bad.
On my first Mog, a 1993 4/4 I had to overhaul the earths. A jump lead from battery to starter worked so it was an earth problem. New earth straps, cleaned contacts, stainless mounting bolts and petroleum jelly over those. Bingo!

Battery was under the driver's side rear seat, despite the plywood panel behind the passenger side seat having written on it "battery." Couldn't work out how to remove the seat - thanks to Allon White for the help, I'd never have shifted it. New battery installed and so far no discharging issues.
