1st Jan 23 a nice dry day at last so a nice run round past the coast & the lanes home. The photo shows my new bobble hat a Xmas pressie knited by my daughhter. The view is across the Deben valley towards the Ramsholt Arms

64 mile top down round trip to pre-war car meet at Hawkedon in Suffolk. Toasty ride there although cool once out of car. Counted 8 Mogs in total. A good mix of display cars with oldest being this 1903 Stevens-Duryea built in the USA. Front folds down to provide extra seating for brave passengers



Interesting Lagonda purchased new as chassis without engine by a Mr Gardner. Prototype fitted with one of his 4LK "baby" diesels, so this is the cars original.

My traditional New Year's ride didn't feel like that at all.
15°C isn't really a winter temperature, but we're not going to complain. Dry, no salt and the roads are clean after the rain of the past few days.
Just like in previous years, I did the tour of the Christmas scenes that the city places in the different communities.

Well amazingly, a second sunny day of the New Year, having been a very wet Christmas (we spent with family in Ireland) and so off on our travels in Felix again , a second run out heading towards the Lakes, unfortunately we encountered wet weather as we headed North ,so we kept it relatively local in the sunshine and headed to the Sue's favourite stop at Wallings of Cockerham, the famous ice cream makers. If there wasn't a shortage of ice cream before we passed thru, there certainly was after. Following a lengthy period of indecision, Sue eventually staggered out with her choice of cone



Half an hour later we were still waiting for her to finish off the cone, a bout of upper mouth frost bite only slowed her down for a while. A great Lancashire ice cream, well worth the visit/detour when heading to/from the Lakes with approximately 44 different flavours from Liquorice and blackcurrant to Xmas pudding (seasonal) to Irish Cream to Blue banana (blue ice cream with banana notes)....something for everyone.

So after being SORNed for December as I prioritised getting miles in on the Royal Enfield so I could get it run-in, I finally got out in the Morgan (and behind a nice heater at last!). Missed the Suffolk Massive's Wednesday run out unfortunately but managed to get out mid afternoon taking Mrs FT to Bungay to look for table lamps (apparently we need another) stopping off at a lovely old church in Reydon on the way back.

Well done Kevin. We enjoyed 'Spoons in Stowmarket & then went lusting after Italian bikes. All very dangerous as the temptation was massive.

Sorry not in the Mog, but was testing a new clutch in the old Mini and ended up at David Mellors shop 'n cafe in Derbyshire, the bonus being the cafe had some proper car porn to gawp at...lovely '66 Porsche 912
