Are the rear tyres old and hardened, are the pressures correct ? With the SSL rear set up correctly you shouldn't get tramp Agree - I have SSL back and front on my Roadster and no axle tramp. It should be checked regularly (each service) to ensure nothing has worked loose especially the axle clamps. The picture earlier in the thread is the latest version of SSL’s rear suspension. Yours might be the earlier version with axle clamps made of pressed steel rather than machined billets. Also worth getting it checked/set up by someone who knows what good feels like. Williams did mine and it made all the difference to the drive.

I emailed with Peter at SSL and he replied with a list of things to check out while the car is up on jack stands for the winter.

So this is the kit you will have fitted. ![[Linked Image]](https://morgan-spares.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/Screen-Shot-2022-03-29-at-1.28.36-PM.png) Still say the axle clamp plates would be first place to look. Note this kit is offered to the full range of Morgan Classics to replace leaf springs so would be able to cope with well over twice the power of your engine. It does require care in fitting and then setting up though. It would be interesting to hear of your findings and hopefully cure so please keep us advised.

For Trads unlike modern cars the tyres are a major part of the suspension hence the low tyre pressures of 22 psig. Tyres degrade as ozone & UV harden the compounds making the tyre walls hard. Hard walls reduce the suspension effect dramatically. I replace mine after 6 years. The difference is amazing. Hardening of the compound also affects grip. I managed a lovely 180 deg skid in my first Roadster that had 8 year old tyres on it when bought. Your tyres may look fine but they are dangerous you should change them immediately.

No wonder it hops with 13 year old tyres, I wouldn't even drive it with those tyres on.

OMG 13 year old tyres! I wouldn't want to go anywhere further than my nearest tyre fitters. You'll notice a big difference in ride and roadholding. I suspect new tyres will solve all your problems there.

Our car is not a daily driver, just a fair wether fun car used for trips to the beaches here in town and local touring. We have only driven it a couple hundred miles since we purchased it in June last year. Yes, I'm aware of the effects that age has on tires regardless of appearance and, when the car is back on the road in the spring, she will have new tires. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2022/08/22/IMG_5214-crop.jpg)

I don,t know what size tires you have but take a look at Sumitomo's. I have them on my Merc E350 4matic and they are excellent in wet or dry and are reasonably priced at Tire Rack.
