Nothing quite so elaborate as building a new exhaust system.
With the seats out being reupholstered I took the opportunity to remove the handbrake as it has been a bit iffy.
Although the pawl and quadrant don't look too bad I shall replace them as a precaution.

Done 1st colour covering of Renovo mohair roof covering today after the cleaner stage at weekend. The colour one needs careful application. A few drips and spills down one window and mad panic. All sorted and looking good.

When treating / spraying a hood, I tend to use cling film on all the windows and exposed metal work in case of any overspray, spills or drips. Pretty easy to apply and remove.

Well it went well the sun was shining so the beading, hinges etc were oiled, bonnet tape got the candle wax treatment, tyre pressures checked & a spanner / screwdriver check as well.

Very soothing after the crap weather. Hoping for a run out shortly once the salty roads dry.

Polished the brake stabiliser bars, removed and painted the front bumper mounting bars, cleaned up the king pins c/ springs and regreased, cleaned the front brakes, took the rear drums off and cleaned and checked the brakes, I’ve got the control technique coming up!

Does anybody know whether the thread on the rod is UNF or BSF? One of the threads is slightly damaged so I need to run a die down it.

Thread is 1/4 BSF

Whilst you are at it drill/tap the thimble at 90 degrees to the rod to take a small (I.e 4mm or less) grub screw.

The purpose of this is to stop the thimble coming loose, usually when you don't want it to, leaving you with no handbrake!

Thanks Arwyn,
Thought it probably was but didn't want to get a die until I was sure.
Unfortunately I don't have the facility to drill/tap the thimble. I'll find another way to secure it.
