Morning all
Here's a question for all M3W's and Super 3's who have LED headlights in the UK...
Do you need to fit beam deflectors when travelling in Europe, or (as some web searching suggests) LED headlights tend to have flatter beams so do not require them?
Your thoughts/knowledge would be greatly appreciated!

I think you will find the "flat pattern" LED headlights are either US spec or for motorbikes. AFAIK there is no aftermarket LED headlamp unit that includes a switch for LHD vs RHD like you see in some conventional cars - you need the beam deflector...

My parallel test of OE halogen and replacement dedicated LED headlamps revealed the cut offs were very similar in shape, just more defined with the LED optics and for good reason given brightness.
If I travelled abroad regularly I would be tempted to buy a cheap pair of LHD headlamps with matching connectors to allow quick swap.

Thanks all for your wisdom and examples. I think I'll err on the side of caution and just put the deflectors on. On reflection it saves a complex conversation in broken French with local police...!

...Halogen Lamps that were discussed in previous Threads. Inexpensive, light weight and work fairly well. Indeed. Took mine (M3W, standard halogen bulbs) for a night time run to the local MTWC meetup. Didnt miss anything except maybe range on low-beam causing me to slow down to 50 in the countryside with oncoming traffic... but that in itself is no bad thing.
