How did they pick that up at the mot? had it actually fractured and caused the wheel to wave about? do you know what caused the crack (have you dropped it in a pothole).
I suppose it could have been a poor hardening process of the rack.

Hello David, my MOT tester is rebuilding/modding a plus4 and making it a plus8. and he's trialled for 25 yrs or more, so is good on classics. The rack centre plate had up and down movement. which it oughtn't! On removal and inspection, there are witness marks of impact, which may be when the car rolled backwards off axle stands, partly down a bank, with my part dismantled scissor lift beneath. I feel it may have been my having to jack the rear up, build up under the wheels and drive out of my predicsment that may have been the cause innocent
