In depth ??? Should have been edited to end after 2:30. frown
Who really cares about an "ergonomic knurled recline lever", the colour of the centre console, or a graphics pack ?

Yes indeed - I was hoping for something that wasn’t already on the website and configurator.

I saw an advert for 'vegan bacon' the other day which made me think, if you're the sort of person who likes bacon so much, then perhaps veganism isn't the lifestyle for you........

Equally..........

If you're the sort of person who really needs puddle lights, a £3k stereo and a £1000 stripe across the bonnet of your motor car, then perhaps Morgan ownership isn't for you............

But, hopefully, there are lots of eccentric millionaires who feel that £80k to £140k on a morgan is money well spent...............

Ah yes, eccentric millionaires. In the late 1990's, in my days as a consultant, I was advising an eccentric millionaire who wanted to single-handedly rehabilitate the cotton-growing industry in the Caribbean to manufacture luxury cotton garments in Europe (read the Bond novels: James Bond habitually wore Sea Island cotton shirts).

Improved agronomics and state-of-the art manufacturing could not overcome the costs of production and shipping. (Generally in manufacturing [and within H&S and environmental constraints], you can produce up to a quality standard and specification, in which case costs spiral; or down to a price point, in which case quality may suffer).

I still have one each of the luxury Sea Island Cotton polo shirts and sweaters, but when it came to socks they would have had to retail at over £30 a pair. My client was convinced that he would mop-up "passing trade" at the high end of the market, e.g. at airport departure shops. I advised against that strategy; he chose to ignore my advice and went ahead anyhow. Shortly after, the business folded.

Somehow I feel that MMC is doing the same: hoping that the demographics suggest there are enough well-heeled individuals (in the UK and abroad) who will be seduced by the idea of an over-specced but over-priced Morgan.  Rather than identifying the price-point at which current and prospective customers will make a purchase and come back for more. Margins may suffer, but better than going out of business.

I must confess that the cars just get further and further away from my idea of a sportscar.
Luckily for MMC, I am clearly not their target customer.
I'll even admit here, with great misgivings, that I don't even find the new 3w attractive at all. It hasn't the classic looks of the previous model and it hasn't the performance of it's obvious competitors.
I'm getting old and miserable I suppose....

I think that falling out of love with brand loyalty is a natural progression. We fall in love with a certain brand at a point in our lives because our ducks line up. Inevitably, new models emerge and attract new buyers with ducks in a row, but our ducks may have drifted apart.

My duck point was the early 2000's. Earlier Morgans featuring things like short doors, wings painted on the car, painted door hinges, steel bulkhead, steel wings/body etc don't appeal. My ducks kept in a row until the Trads ceased production. Now my ducks are dispersed widely.
