Redfate - I’ve had 3 stags and they are ok cruisers and can’t really be made to shift or handle. Accept that and they are lovely cars.
Im lucky to own a nice MX5, 2006 2.0 sport. Every time I drive it I wonder if the Morgan is really worth 8 times as much! Fantastic bang for buck.
If I got rid of the Morgan fever I’d probably go back to a TR6 or MGB V8 Roadster
2012 Plus 4 in Sport Green. Much comfier than the Plus 8!

A Caterham 7 420 would fit nicely in the garage. But not instead of the Mog.

Does an MX5 NC have more legroom than an ND/124? I still have my 2007 Elise. That's my answer to the thread question here too. My son has a well maintained and quite tuned NA. To be perfectly honest, I'm toying with the idea of selling my Elise, even though I've put years into tuning it with Rotrex supercharger, Sports manifold, free programmable ECU, etc. I go weak when I see an S1 Elise. I couldn't afford one in the 90s. Over Christmas, an S1 in my favourite colour, Lotus mustard yellow, was offered for €29,000, immaculate, first-hand and only 37,000 km. I should have done it. I know the engine and its weaknesses because I had an MGF almost 30 years ago. You can repair the head gasket quite well and then it holds. But the engine has a good character. A friend had one of the first Elise S1 and I always thought that 120 hp was enough...with some tuning a bit more.

I looked at the fiat 124 when it came out and the Abarth version. I thought they were quite different from the mx5. I think they had quite different engines for a start. Hasn't the fiat got a turbo?

I'd go down the Chesil Speedster myself. Still in the ethos of Morgan where it's modern-ish components but a classic car experience.

Actually I’d forgotten the Chesil - hopefully Westfield will restart manufacturing them this year. I like their version, as they don’t use an old VW donor car - it’s all brand new. And the electric version is interesting too!

Yes, I went on a factory tour in Hiroshima in 2018. The cars are made in a jumble, so different models are made one after the other and the workers form a team that assembles many steps at a time, so no mindless assembly line work. In between, I also saw various Fiat 124s, which were fitted with Italian turbo engines. Even though I like the styling of the 124, I would always prefer a Mazda MX5 naturally aspirated to these Fiat engines. They are worlds apart in reliability and innovation.
