Excellent choice especially in that colour. If MG made an MGB currently, how much do you think it would be? Nobody's mentioned the 1990's MG RV8, are they that bad ?  I had a drive in a new RV8 when I had my BGTV8. It was OK I suppose. The seats put you high in the car. The interior was amazing new, but they don't arf get tatty with age. I still look at RV8s occasionally , but from my perspective, my Roadster is so far ahead in every way that I doubt an RV8 would do the business. A bespoke V8 conversion in a new shell would be the way to do it, but then the Duratec family of engines would give the same or more power and a better balanced car.

Tha Mazda running gear in the Frontline MGBs is a good match, but they are far too expensive for a jazzed up MG.

It displayed standard Latin soluble properties and cost him loads if I remember correctly.

The surprising thing for me about this thread is that no one ( on a speed read) has suggeted an F type. I had one before the current toy and with one exception it was a brilliant true sports car. The one exception was the seat which at that time hasd a narrow centre and hard edges which did not go well with my motorbike injured hip.
You can now buy a 2 year old 550 bhp SVR version with a blown V8 for around £60k. And it is both a pretty car and reasonably economic to run.
Any views on why the F type is so ignored in general? Like many of the current "sports cars" I consider them far too wide as an alternative to a Morgan in the role of B road blaster. I predominantly use my convertible in the summer, top down and on non-motorway roads. I owned the predecessor of the F Type , an XKR, and while it was a fabulous thing the performance and physical size made it more of a GT car IMHO.

I would second that,
the F-Type is a good looking coupe or convertible, comfortable enough and nice to drive.
I use one as my daily driver and really like it. As a sports car though it is not good and exciting enough.
Technically it is based on the XKR-plattform, and the weight distribution is not very fortunate with the engine too far in the front ant the rear being light.
This results in under steering and spinning rear wheels on the spirited drives.
Again, good road car and GT, really, but no replacement for a Morgan.

Richard, Gambalunga had a Quattroporte Maserati, I think a 70s, not a convertible.
As for the Alpine, I'm a fan of hers. Yes, it could replace three cars.

I was getting him mixed up with one of our other friends on here that had one plus a GTN for sale a while back. Those Alpines are pretty special and the genetics are right and I think the chassis and powertrain is more that adequate for todays B road blasts and equally at home on the motorway when needed. I am finding myself increasingly attracted to them.
