Chaps, I think there are some other fans of John Mayall out there well, it is with deal of sadness that I have just read that he has given up touring ( no wonder at his age ) but to compensate I have just bought a copy of his auto biography Blues from Laurel Canyon where I have been. It documents all the major events of his musical lfe and explains the story behind lots of the tracks on his L.P.s A grat read if you like the blues.

Good to see he has taken early retirement.

I had the misfortune to see Petula Clark at Cropredy a few years ago. Cringworthy.

I went to see Paul Jones and Dave Kelly the other week at Stroud Subscription Rooms. Jones is 82, Kelly a youthful 75, but they've still got it musically. Inevitably these kinds of gigs become as much reminiscing as playing, but nothing wrong with that, I found the stories fascinating.

Tim, I think you are correct, the last couple of Johns concerts have been a bit thin so its a good thing he packed up whilst I can still remember him as a relatively young man along with all the famous chaps who plyed with him. Thank goodness for records.

I have a number of his albums, but Turning Point remains one of my favourites.

That is certainly a different one which I also have in my collection but the "Beano" album reigns supreme for me although I do have a great love for "The blues from Laurel Canyon.
