I went for the Williams holder so that the umbrella is always accessible, I've got quite long legs so my seat is always fully back and if I put the umbrella on the parcel shelf I had to take out the luggage to get to it as it moved about if on top of the Hills Alive cases.

I thought about the PVC tube option as it would have been a lot cheaper but I think my pride and joy looks much better with a bit more shiny shades. I regularly get asked "what is that?", my favourite response is that it holds the back-up batteries laugh2

Here's a pic taken from above, the nut faces the front of the car so isn't very obvious.

The odd thing is that the cap seems very tight (there's an o-ring on it) but they seem to vibrate off quite quickly.

I think the idea sounds good... but I don't really like it. A bit bulky I feel

Mine goes behind the Hills Alive luggage.

Yes it does on mine too but then you can't get to it quickly. I have the bags locked to the car via a steel cable so if for example you are caught in a heavy thunder storm on the Naples ring road you can't get it up quickly (ooh matron) & just get soaked putting up the hood.

Mind you I find the tube on the rear rack looks v odd.

I adopted a bespoke approach. I had bumpers on the car originally but I preferred a cleaner look so I combined an umbrella tube with overrider and luggage rack support all in one.

Also changed the number plate and reverse / high intensity rear light set up.

When I am asked what it is I tell them it is the "Anti Porsche Rocket Launcher"

Have you still got a rear foglight somewhere?

Yes Nick, I used dual colour LEDs wired so that both come on white as reversing lights or red as high intensity fog lights.

Thankfully, I've never needed to use reverse and fog lights at the same time.

Neat.
Yes, please don't drive backwards in fog! smile
