Hasn't it been almost 2 years since the X-Wedge tooling was sold to an unknown company? If they had serious intentions of putting that engine or parts back into production, they obviously aren't very concerned about their return on invested capital.

If I were looking for a replacement engine I think I would turn to S&S as they would have experience of the M3W and it's application and would like to think they would be up for the challenge of getting one of their engines to fit

There is another way to go that has not been discussed and trashed, that is a total conversion to a Vtwin of your choice turning a generator that powers an electric drive rear wheel. Eliminate the Centa, clutch, transmission, driveshaft, bevelbox, and rear drive belt and sprocket and put an electric motor on the rear wheel.

Smooth power and an engine that is readily available, like a MotoGuzzi, Harley, Honda, etc.

I think you will find them running to the hills rather than the other way.

Don't forget you will need an HV battery and an inverter for the drive motor

Love the idea - V Twin sound and electric efficiency. Is it feasible?

Why would that be, they would be potentially selling engines

I guess that I am qualified to say that the amount of work to achieve a hybrid drivetrain would be more than to just produce a full electric drivetrain.

Look at it this way. They already had the Morgan market and sold a few thousand of the Wedge motors between Morgan and other bike custom companies. BUT, they decided to drop that market completely. I highly doubt they would just at the outside chance at converting maybe 50 or so motors over to some of their other models. They did NOTHING other than sell an engine package, not ever sure if the EFI was theirs or someone else's. But all new mounts, exhaust, you name it, would have to be developed.

When it gets right down to it, I'm sure that parts will be found to keep your current motors up and running. Pistons and rings are available from many manufacturers along with valves and cams too. There's really nothing wrong with the current Wedge motor setup and they are of a larger displacement than other alternatives at this point.

Our diesel electric boats in the navy and the ferry systems don't have giant batteries for storing power, they just regulate the power to the electric motor. The first diesel electric boats in the navy might have been submarines and they needed batteries for running submerged, and I doubt the M3W will need that requirement, but in England one never knows :-)

The only battery necessary would be the engine starting batter which we already have in place.

As to electric efficiency, the efficient part is the engine running at a more constant rpm if you vary voltage with a big rheostat rather than varying engine rpm.
