On the Autostrada the limit is normally 130kph. Except for the stretches where they have installed Tutor which measures speed over distance the actual cruise speed is closer to 150kph.
90% of the cars that arrive from behind at speeds closer to 180 and with lights flashing (even if you are already overtaking slower vehicles yourself) were manufactured in Germany. It really is quite noticeable.

German barges (and many modern cars) are (too) easy to drive fast. It doesn't take any special skills.
The thing I'm seeing more, is pulling into lane 2 from lane 1 on motorways without indicating, or just barging across. Old blokes seem to be the main culprits. That's based on my last trip to Devon.

The lovely Lady Budster reckons that the BMW/Audi style of driving is due to their owners being poorly endowed. There may be a link here - to those funny little wierdly painted hatchback cars, whose doors and other panels suffer from strange resonances whenver the 'stereo' is deployed... A lady friend believes the size of the vehicle's exhaust is inversly proportional to certain parts of the driver's anatomy...
