Thank you ProfessorM for the tip with the stair grip tape. Have done it today on my new car - works nicely and looks even better than just the plain aluminum

I’ve just done this conversion but struggling to actually get the phone on the mount, maybe because it’s an aftermarket cover how does yours fit?

My Quadlock is a little tight - there's only clearance to get the phone into the mount at 45 degrees if you jiggle it (the fact that the ribbed steering wheel shroud in front of the hard plastic bit is rubber and flexible helps). The benefit of it being a little hard to get the phone on/off the mount means it's impossible for anyone to opportunistically 'snatch' your phone!
