Discovered something odd today, an guessing it might be relay related. All indicator lights are working. Turning left normal, hazards work as normal, but turning right, they are rapid, like you get when you have a bulb out, but they both flash. If this is a relay issue, can anyone advise where it is, and which one it is to replace please. I'm guessing it's under the dash, above the gear stick. TIA
You don't give your model or year, Leroy, but something similar happened to my 2013 4/4. Left indicators worked fine but right was double speed click & dashboard repeater but nothing outside the car. Luckily I was on my way to Newelms and thought a replacement relay was all that was needed. Newelms thought it was a blown bulb but neither was the case.
This became worrying when they explained that cars of Matilda's youth use a very expensive PCB to control all the electrical accessories (see other posts about PCBs!). I drove home using hand signals (does anyone under 70 understand them?) while Newelms investigated solutions..
A week later I was recalled. They had spoken to the factory & other reputable dealers with no answers forthcoming but had borrowed a couple of used PCBs to compare and needed the car left with them.
The next day I learnt the solution. Despite having 28 fuses conveniently accessible under the bonnet the indicators have two extra inline fuses behind the dashboard (why? you ask) These must have been the cheapest available; because when moulded the plastic had overlapped the clips connecting the fuses and after 30,000 miles & 11 years the contact had given up. Bless Darren for persistence and not going home until he'd found the problem. Cut back the errant plastic and the connection was restored.
