Prompted by my lovely wife having a major spinal surgery and needing to own a Morgan she can get in and out of with a modicum of dignity, after a lifetime of nimble Lotus and proper 2-speed Morgans, I, having reached a certain age, have finally been turned to the Dark Side by Helen at Richard Thorne and added a 16,000 mile, 2001 Plus 8 4 wheeler to the menagerie.
Previous brief forays into 4 wheelers have met with disappointment and acute Post Purchase Remorse, but I am pleasantly surprised how good this car is when after many decades, they finally figured out how to make them steer like a car rather than a supertanker.
VERY dark green, stone leather, 4 litre, excellent power steering - Not at all like my visceral 1929 Super Aero JAP, but a wonderful gentlemanly old thing to waft around the place in with my sweetheart at my side.

I have a 2002 Plus8. Basically the same version as your car. Good choice.
It is a gentlemanly beast! It can pootle about easily due to the V8 torque, then.....3000rpm and it comes alive. 3rd gear and 3krpm gives you a kick through the seat.
I changed from a 1600 to the V8. Much better as a cruiser. Once I had learned how it reacted I moved from almost automatic driving to use gears/revs. Just be careful in the wet on bends/roundabouts/starting off as you can waggle the rear easily! Don’t be too eager to press the accelerator too early.
I try to use higher octane low ethanol petrol as I feel the car runs a bit better than with 95/E10.
Enjoy it.

Welcome to TM and the land of Plus 8's - a good place to be on both counts, enjoy your miles.

I bought my first Plus 8 from there back in 2004 with the same colour combination as yours but with the alloys, I'd never driven a Morgan before ever but it made it's way safely back to Devon where it covered 24,000 miles in 4 years in my hands and never missed a beat.

I came up by train and Helen picked me up at the railway station, a memorable journey ragging a little Fiat within an inch of it's life but very competently.
