There's 41 Plus Fours for sale on the MMC web site in the UK, and 16 Plus Sixs. It seems like a lot of (expensive) stock to me.
Added to all the other cars stuck at dealers, some for ages, sales are definitely slow.
Times are hard.

That's got to hurt Morgan on new and second-hand sales. So much for appreciating values
Not good for anyone.....

Ouch, even a conservative estimate gives £4,200,000 on my abacus, if some are new unreg MY23 then over £5 million

I have a 2015 Plus 4 good spec lowish miles etc. Bought it in 2017 and the price at dealers for equivalent one are going for almost as much as I paid. I think the new CX is not as popular so there's increased demand for good recent classics?

Personally I think the massive hike in price is one factor. And other updates like too much power and auto gearbox etc are not true to the classic Morgan tradition. It just what I hear from the other mostly classic Morgan owners and it makes sense.

Perhaps the new CX apppeals to a different set of people.....

Is there any other realistic scenario than the one where Morgan are sadly doomed as a manufacturer of new cars after 2040? hide

Yes. The one where they don't make it to 2040.
Sorry to be a doom-monger (and I love my car, the heritage, the cameraderie etc) but I can't help feel they have got the current product mix, pricing, and marketing, woefully wrong.

When the Aero was introduced in 2002, Peter Morgan was smart enough to keep making the bread & butter trads. The 4/4 was the mainstay while it was in production. If Morgan had only produced Aeros from 2002, the numbers sold would not have allowed Mirgan to survive.
Aeros were expensive with limited appeal.

When the Roadster stopped production pending the 3.7 engine deal, the M3W covered the gap in sales. Right now the Super 3 will provide a cushion.

But the company is now led by people with a prestige car mentality, and Morgan is not prestige. A high purchase price does not make a prestige car. Some Long term Morgan owners have made the transition to the CX, but many more have not.

I remember the 4/4 Sport at around £30k, the Roadster around £40k on the mid noughties. Now we have serious pricing which inevitably reduces the market. Where is the bread & butter model? Lotus tried going upmarket. Its been a struggle.

The greatest asset Morgan had, Steve Morris, is gone. I'm not optimistic.
