Many threads on TM show how much you can tinker with, fiddle with and personalise a trad Morgan. There are few areas of the trad car that you can't do something with or too to make it yours.
Cx owners are left wondering if a motolita wheel can be made to fit their 2023 car.......... That's about it.......😁
Although, CX owners can spend some time wondering what recall will be next for their car as well as calculating if their car has devalued by 15% or 20% with the release of the new model year update.
I'm with Peter, sadly 2040 looks unlikely. Yes the cars are too expensive and too powerful. They're very good for a Morgan but poor for a modern car, even a budget modern car, never mind one costing upwards of £80k!
The factory/the Italians are set on building cars that they can update annually, that they can continue to raise the price of, and that move further and further away from the idea of crusty old farts in flying jackets. Unfortunately it's the crusty old farts in flying jackets that have kept buying the cars for the last century, I accept they are probably a dying breed, but there aren't enough trendy good looking hipsters or George Clooney lookalikes (MMC advertising photos) to keep buying CX's at the rate needed, especially if they can buy an Aston or a Porsche or a Tesla (!!!!) for the same or less money.
I'd imagine some dealers are sweating a bit with the amount of stock that they are holding. I accept they do need some stock for the 'rush' but a lot of it has been sitting there for many months.
I haven't even mention the new 3 wheeler......£50,000....... £50K...... FIFTY THOUSAND QUID 😆😆😆😆 Form an orderly queue.......

Interesting commentary Julian. I think your comments regarding the "Fiddle Factor" of the Trads make a lot of sense......

Some sensible things said there.
Given the Aero ran alongside the trad I was surprised when what I thought was the Aero's replacement came along and replaced the Aero and the Trad.
Interesting times ahead. As mentioned I expect later mode trads will edge up. Should help all of them.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Perhaps the new range is not so popular as the Trads Rumour from dealers is that not a single Super 3 has been sold this year. CX sales are also similarly very bleak. That's astonishing if true... Is this just UK?

I am the owner of a 2020 Plus Six.. at the time of purchase the car had only covered 800 miles, it had been a sleeper.. The reason for purchase was due to a favourable price compared with a brand new purchase, the colour/specification was good and most of all there was more room in the cockpit for driver and passanger and it drove very well indeed compared with a Trad.. We moved from a 2016 3.7 Roadster to the Plus Six. Being a retired engineer I had fiddled with our Roadster for most of a year to get it right, most of the fettling and "upgrades" I enjoyed undertaking. Now to the Plus Six.. firstly yes, it has needed very little of my own hands on fettling. I have undertaken a yearly wheels off inspection and worked through the car, but there was very little home input needed, other than a scheduled upgrade from the stock steering wheel to a MotoLita and its soon to have the SSL suspension upgrade, but this last upgrade needs to be undertaken by a dealer, as the wheel alignment needs checking after the work. Now to the not so good area.. Without a doubt the car has been the most unreliable car we have ever owned, since we purchased it 10 months or so ago the car has been to the dealers or the factory for the majority of the time of ownership. The list of issues would fill an A4 sheet, some major, some less so. The positive of this negative experience has been that the dealer and the factory have addressed every one of the faults identified. I can not grumble with their work to sort the issues. Be it that its taken a very long time. So why have we kept " the faith" with the car.It is because the design is great, it is such an improvement from the Roadster 3.7, it is a joy to drive.. Now with regard to home fettling, other than the car has been in factory warranty, so work has been covered by the dealer, there are zilch parts listings/ schematics for the car available to an owner.. this is very very frustrating.. I am sure this is to push work into the dealer/factory, but for a lot of owners this is not a good move from the MMC. There is very little hands on info available via the owners club etc, again, the cars are mainly still in factory warranty, which i suspect is the prime reason for a lack of hands on articles. However for the 2019 onward CX cars the factory warranty has ended or near to ending, this is the time onward when owners will want info to undertake their own maintenance.. The cars are more complicated compared with a Trad, but not enough to prevent most service requirements being undertaken. Its mainly the CanBus system and the level of sensors etc that complicates the car. With reference to the price, this year took a big price jump with the MY23 redesign, it has jumped over 25K from our purchase price.. I prefer the looks of the 2020 car, I do not like most of the 2023 cockpit redesign. I actually think the designers got it mostly right with the first cars, be it that the build quality was not so good. Price wise, looking at dealers prices the price we paid has not moved downward significantly... With regard to dealer stock of the pre owned Plus Six, it seems to have been fairly stable at 16 to 18 vehicles over the past year. They are selling slowly, as some I wanted to look at have gone now and have been replaced by other cars.. Some cars are not selling, but I believe that is down to their colour or specification or a combination of both.. Anyway the above is just my take on ownership..

An honest and thorough summing up of plus six ownership Dave. I think quite a few 3.7 roadster owners moved on to CX cars judging by the amount of 3.7's for sale with dealers the other year. I suppose the 'cost to change' isn't too great moving from a 3.7. All credit to you for sticking with the car through the tough times, hopefully you're getting the best out of it now.
I suspect that many used car prices don't reflect the 'real' downturn in the car market, they probably reflect the amount the dealer paid for it when prices were higher and they can't afford to lose money by cutting prices. It doesn't help that the factory are often undercutting dealers and offering large discounts on used cars if pushed.
Dave W is correct in saying that Morgan isn't a 'premium brand' and charging high prices doesn't make your product premium, it just loses you old customers. The hand built line that is always trotted out never cut it with me, it's really hand assembled, which is totally different thing. It just means varying degrees of build consistency. 🤷🏻♂️

A quick search for 'Super 3' on fbook turns up 4 handovers in March. It's hardly a scientific study of sales, but there are *some* sales going through. Will

I wouldn't have thought that Winter/Spring was a good time for sales of open top cars either?
