Asbestos can be found in floor tiles, Artex and cement board, used for soffits and other places. Any pre 1985 house could contain asbestos fibers as it was in 1985 that asbestos was removed from textured plaster. It isn't the end of the world as most has been painted, which effectively seals it away, but any building work can be a problem.

Richard this about surveyors avoiding liability for what can be substantial claims. What most people don't understand is that despite you paying for the survey unless it is a full fledged building survey and not a simple valuation the surveyor is working for the mortgage company.

Peter thats the myth but not the reality, asbestos in textured coating continued for many years after 1985 as it was imported from a wide variety of places. To give you some idea of the extent of the problem in 1999 with the ban on the use pending £19 million of asbestos containing synthetic roofing slates we sold in the uk.

The early aero went many years ago only to be replaced by my current bright aero.

Hi Ric,
like others, welcome to Morgan ownership and the forum.
As already mentioned, make sure you get everything in place before shipping. I imported a 1990 Plus 4 from UK 2 years ago, had an asbestos report done that complied with the Aust customs requirements. It was when Covid was on so the firm sent a kit and the owner took all the samples and the firm did the tests from them. I didn't use an agent except for the actual shipping, so did all the other preliminary stuff myself.
What state of Oz are you in? Different states have slightly different registration laws.
Good luck. If you want to ph for a chat, let me know your contact details.(I think TalkMorgan allows you to send a private email)
Regards, Col
