Some of my information was wrong, Bonesie, you are right. Also, it has had the modifications needed to extend its fatigue life to 12,000 hours, so it could, if the CAA would agree, be returned to flight.
The CAA consider the T1 a current RAF combat aircraft so will not issue a permit to fly as a civilian aircraft.
At BDAC we have a real Hawk expert, owner of XX154. He told me that there are close to 80 T1 Hawks at RAF Shawbury. As the Red Arrows Hawks have all had their fatigue life extended to 12,000 hours it is probable that the Reds will be flying Hawks for another 30 years...
