The M3W is made for the Spanish Sierras

We made a trip from France – Haute Pyrenees – to Finestrat ( Near Benidorm ) around Easter 2023.
It was our first long trip with our newly acquired M3W, 1500km in total.
We planned the trip as much as possible through the many mountain ranges in Spain.
We were impressed. What a beautiful country.
I had a wrong idea from the Eighties about Spain – only deserts – but these Sierras in the east are made for Bikes and the M3W.

The weather was perfect, a lot of sun.
It was cold sometimes but our heating vest worked perfect as a heating blanket over the legs or as an actual vest.
We think the best time to do it is April - May or October, before and after it gets too hot.
You can stop in nearly every little village for home-made and local Tapas and alcohol free “Estrella / Damm” beer or a good class of Crianza Somontano wine.
Except for Eastern, Hostels and Hotels - with secure parking – will book you nearly always.
We planned the hotels and our route in advance with “Google-Maps” converted with “MapstoGpx” and used “Roadtracer”.
Stunning places.
Very good roads and beautiful views.
We did not calculate more than 30km/hr. In that case you can do around 250km a day with several stops included.

The roads are in good - to perfect - order but sometimes it is impossible to avoid a big stone falling from the mountains on the road.
Also some road speed-bumps in villages are too steep for our low flying M3W. Even when driving very slowly.
A helmet and a mirrored visor against the sun is advisable.
We use ski helmets painted in our car‘s color.
They have always a tight fit, are cool, are not expensive and are very light – 600gr - so less risk of a Whiplash and they are strong enough for our M3W use.

We prepared our M3W with 2 super-capacitor banks so the engine start always immediately even after forgetting to take the lights out, we can even start – cranking asks more than 130A - without the battery connected. Before, we felt never secure about our starting-procedure.
And fitted a 2,5 cm thick stone guard under the engine that absolutely saved us, the engine, the gear-box bell-house – which is another 1 cm lower than our stone-guard - and our newly installed engine sensors more than once.
Without we should have been stranded in nowhere.
Now the little repairs are 5 new bolts for the stone guard – their bolt-heads were bend - and a better constructed steel M3W numberplate because the plastic one broke in pieces.

It took us three days to Finestrat – region Valencia - and back it took the same, but the next time we do it in at least 4 days.
The scenery and the driving is too stunning to pass it fast.
We are bikers but have never seen such fantastic bike roads and we were clearly not the only bikes.

The Spanish people are extremely nice and whole terrasses where applauding when we passed.
Language is no problem, because Spanish people love to talk and repeat till they are sure you have understood them and they understood you.
Great company.

Looks like your stone guard was worth the effort! Congratulations on a fun trip in the Sierras.

Cant say I've ever had any issues in the Spanish Picos regarding sump clearance... plus the sump guard looks like its a few cm (3-4?) *below* the rest of the engine / chassis, so might be taking hits that you would otherwise sail over.

Having said that, this is exactly the sort of mod you would want (along with raised suspension) for taking a M3W 5sp on trials work!

We have the feeling that driving with more than 4 of these loud monsters is a little too much for this fantastic environment.

BTW we followed your idea for a stroboscopic warning light which is allowed in Spain.
At my headrest I connected an extra RAM-boll for a lot of other purposes.
I use the existing RAM-fix for our cell-phone to hold an orange stroboscopic light van Osram

Have some to learn

Copy the video URL. Then use the 'clapperboard' to insert media tag. Choose Youtube. Paste in URL, but delete the 's' from 'https'

Also make sure you copy the URL from the top URL banner, not from 'right click' on the video.

I found what I were doing wrong.
I copied the URL first to a notepad and than in the 'clapperboard'
That does not work, it works only when you "Copy-Paste" the URL directly in the clapperboard.
