Sorry both, I made a mistake and swapped the colours this needs to be: YR and YK.

@Richard, with checking the bobtail, do you mean the Y-K-YW-YK bomb tail?

I will first do more extended test riding with the VSS disconnected to ensure that all normally work without speed input.
And also want to get my joy back with a normal behaving M3W because only searching for a solution without any progress kills my happiness in the car.

But again, I appreciate all help and suggestions from all to solve this annoying problem.

Yes that bombtail Laurens thumbs

Hopefully following testing with speed signal disconnected from ECU and OE TSM you will have a driveable car, with all lights working and no fuses blowing. I believe this will just leave the fuel pump back feed problem with hazards selected.

I think you can assume the issues with alternate TSM's are simply down to incompatibility and not worth worrying about.

Today I checked the YK-K-Y-YW bobtail again, and it looked like the YW wire didn't have a tight connection.
So I opened the bobtail and made a new connection for that four wires.
But a test drive showed that high idling was still there.

Then I took the YW out of this bomb tail, as Richard suggested.
This YW goes from there to the chassis/engine connector and from there to the ECU.

New test ride .........HURRAH, HURRAH. happy3
Normal idle and also normal speed indication and normal turn signal operation.

The only thing now is that the engine light comes intermittently on for a very short moment.
I may check the engine/ chassis connector later, but now the car is perfectly drivable.

Strange that when I disconnect the VSS connector at the wheel, the engine light doesn't come on. confused2

Big thanks to Richard and the others; without help, I could never have solved this problem.
Once more, it shows the importance of this forum for any M3W owner.

That’s good you have a work around, is that now pointing to a problem with the chassis/engine connector. There have been issues on other cars with this connector.

Pleased you have a driveable car Laurens. From what you have found/told us no reason to suspect the engine/chassis connector. I would be tempted to leave that alone unless you have a related remaining issue.

Do you still have the hazard lights back feed to fuel pump issue though?

@Richard
Yes hazard lights still turns on fuel pump and can start engine without keys.
The blowing fuses with other TSM I didn’t checked yet.

Well maybe enjoy the car for a while and leave further investigation on that until later sunny drive.

Having said that and as fuse 9 (normally feeds stalk switch and instruments) appears to be the source of back feed you could try disconnecting stalk switch and check for fuel pump issue with fuse 9 installed.
