The failed fuse caused a no-start, but may not cause a running engine to stop. In the good old days I would have suggested running the engine and pulling the fuse - BUT these days it might do something horrible to the ECU, so it's not worth the risk.
The factory (and Dealers) should know what engine fuse 3 does.......

Just a few of points the engine did stop while I was driving and then failed to start, as the fuse is in the circuit as a protective sacrificial device to provide overcurrent protection and prevent fire it would be foolish of me not to have this investigated. The car is 10 months old and therefore under warranty.

Well after 22 days of waiting and not being able to use your car I hope MMC pull their finger out and sort something out under your warranty without any further delay or inconvenience to you.
These cars are bought for enjoyment and part of that enjoyment in initial years is the thought of support from the company due to its reputation. I thought I was buying into that when I bought my car.

Sadly nothing was done under warranty. I have taken the car out for a very short test drive and the fuse did not blow.

Hi, need some help my 4/4 has just died, drove it out of the garage, got out to close the garage door and the engine stopped. It turns over but won't fire up. Think it might be the immobiliser. Should the immobiliser light go out or stay on when the ignition is turned on? Can I bypass it?

If it turns over and won't start I would be more inclined to suspect the fuel pump relay. But check the engine fuses - see above.

Have you tried the fuel cutoff switch under the bonnet? Or.....like George, check fuse number 3!

Sorry...yes, I should have posted again! I was hoping that George might have posted about it, so I hope I'm not treading on his toes!
The factory had the car back and tracked down the fault to the wiring supply to the fuel pump which was causing the related fuse to blow. All sorted now.
