They are illegal too! 🤣 Ah well, will just have to rely on the average copper not bothering, or being clueless about the individual laws. Failing that, fall back on my good looks and charm.....

Get an earlier private plate then, make the plates easily removable and carry the legal ones in the car. Claim the black and silver ones are show plates that you forgot to take off. Down here they are much more concerned that the plates are camera compatible than anything else.

Probably going to stick with them and wait for a tug - first offence appears to be a 14 day recitfy notice. If that happens I'll get some standard ones made up. Saves any hassle, and as much as I like the old style plates, I do have hassle getting in and out of carparks that have number plate readers.....

14 day rectify notices are no longer used, done away with several years ago as hardly anybody complied and the follow up was time consuming and expensive as non compliance means a court appearance. FP £100 at the roadside.

Been in touch with the previous owner about collection and mentioned the plates - never been pulled for them in his ownership. Obviously some police get more excited about the plates than others. Fingers crossed I avoid the excitable ones on the journey home on Saturday morning.......
Just getting a box full of tools, parts and fluids ready for the journey home 'just in case' and looking forward to a nice long weekend of tinkering!

I've had black and silver plates on my 4/4 for over 10 years and have never been challenged. Even went through a few MOT's with them on.

Looks great, the mini-lite wheels are very nice. I have never had a car with wire wheels so that is what I wanted on my MGB butt Mini lites would be my second choice and if people are right that wire wheels are a pain to live with I might end up with minilites.
Overall a nice looking car to enjoy the company of your Morgan. Good luck with the trip home.
I am a bit confused over the fascination with plates that UK residents have, those plates are a nice colour for the car but surely the legal colour is also something reasonable? Surely not something disgusting like bright pink.

Yeah, I didn't want the faff of spokes and spinners and tubes and cleaning etc. Normal wheels and no issues with tyres... Overall a nice looking car to enjoy the company of your Morgan. Good luck with the trip home. Thank you! Two options in the UK - Black and White for pre 1/1/80 - nice simple traditional and a classic look which reflects the age of the vehicle and then the White front/ yellow rear for everything post 1/1/80 - OK, but very modern looking.

The B&W plates go with anything but my purely personal view is that the later plates don't sit well with some colours .
However your 'B' is black and black goes with just about everything.
