This Morgan tale's from 1976 when I lived quite close to Pickersleigh Road and had made a habit of visiting MMC's parts department on Saturday mornings. It was very old-fashioned with a huge counter, some parts racks and just one parts man. It reminded me very much of Velocette in Hall Green, Birmingham.

In those days I was improving the appearance of my newly-acquired first ever Morgan, a seven year old 4/4. Amongst other bits and pieces, my list included a winged badge for the cowl and a Parts Book. I was previously shouted down when I had asked for a Parts Book but on this visit, I had seen the parts man referring to such a book and he had no choice but to add a copy to my parts tally on his counter. The book was for the Plus 4 and contained prices but no Illustrations.

Back at home, I was curious why the winged badge had cost me just £0.75 (fifteen shillings in old money). I checked its price in my new Parts Book and found it was listed at just '£0 15s 0d'. From the book's publication date I learned that the parts man had charged me a 25 year old price! In those days, this was no big surprise.
