Yep, going to have to be careful the old Mog doesn't feel neglected.

All the work yesterday was a success. Did about 60 miles today - first half mile from cold had a few pops, but then she settled into a smooth tickover. Temp rarely got over 1/4 (fan set to kick in at 88 degrees). Clearing the two junk fans from the front of the rad, and fitting a 'puller' behind has really helped with the cooling - on the way home last week the fan was coming on very few miles, and the air temp was substantially warmer today - getting the ignition timing right will certainly have helped with that as well.

Did a few cosmetics too, like painting the grill centre black, and moving the plate back an inch or so.

Next step is to try and sort out the saggy seats!

And I'd be the one having to look after it - not an issue, as I had one in my youth, but there's a limit to the amount of stuff I have time to maintain properly. About to get rid of some of the bikes for that reason.

The MG has proper sliding seat rails and adjustable back rest (the Mog also has both but adjustment involves spanners) so should make it easier to adjust for her.

Love the MK3 spitfire, although I had a MK4, I have always thought the 3 is the best looking.

Here for a good time not a long time!!

I'm fairly sure that your insurance NCB remains valid for a few years even when you don't have a current policy.

2 years is the "official" limit.

Had to cancel my previous policy as they wouldn't transfer to the MG. Got a new policy with Lancaster (MGOC affiliated), Fully Comp with protected NCB - £127.

Just a little update as been using her for a few weeks now.

Fitted some K&Ns, sorted the timing, mixture and balanced the carbs, and now averaging about 32mpg which I'm really pleased about. Oil change this weekend. Engine first and will do the gearbox in a couple of weeks.

Fixed all the switches that didn't work, fitted a pair of rear fog lights. LED bulbs all round bar indicators (clear front lens and chrome bulbs). Got a smartscreen on order so I can have a intermittent wipe feature.

Braking system is a little woolly, so going to get new pads/disc and calipers etc after pay day and fit them. Bear in mind that a new disc for my Morgan is £130, I can get two discs (slotted and drilled), two new calipers, two sets of pads, two stainless backing plates, a set of 3 stainless braided hose and all associated nuts and bolts for £275.

Yep ... similarly alway pleased at how cheap bits are for my older 300tdi Defender .... some one-make clubs get batches of 'disposable but mystifyingly expensive' bits made up for sale to their members (helps to encourage membership too) .... does the Morgan club do this? ... seems like a missed trick ...Not like discs are a difficult thing to run a batch of off in these days of CNC machinery ... and, unlike modern make, I'm guessing there wouldn't be a huge number of different designs needed to cover the earlier trads.

I'm in the MGOC, which is technically a part and workshop business, with an owners club attached.

On the plus side, there are benefits from this, and the huge numbers of MG owners compared to Morgan. For a start the monthly magazine is more like one of the 'Classic Car Restoration' glossy mags on the market, rather than the 'SAGA Holidays' brochure we get from MSCC.

The parts department is comparable to Melvyn but at a fraction of the price. You get a full factory style parts manual free with membership, along with the offer of a free 'vehicle check' from their workshop in Swavesey (which I'm sure would bring up several issues that they would graciously offer to fix there and then at a cost!)
