Did you eventually do a deal through Collecting Cars?

No, it was done privately and at the reserve price I'd set.

Thanks everyone!
We are "downsizing", the first time we have had just 2 vehicles since 1999.
We shall have to slum it with the Boxster now.

Congratulations Peter. I am sadly contemplating the same with the Aero Coupe - too many cars and not enough time.

Well done to you and the new owner, yours was my favourite car of all I see on here, I deliberately kept from watching the progress of the sale in case I was tempted! eek

For time to time I think about it as well.
The I drive it, and change my mind.
But really in the last two year it’s more the km for services and the mot than the rest.
On the other hand I cannot think of anything better to buy with a similar amount of money.

I have thought about it seeing the recent list of cars for sale, with the current pricing (maybe less in order to actually sell it) being asked.

I recently took the Coupe on a business run out to BE and NL and it was wonderful. I got the old feeling of people loving it, free parking spaces at the door and loads of smiles. Bikers nod and give it the thumbs up. Every time I think about selling it I cannot see anything to replace it with.

Maybe an Alfahoics GT-A, restomod Jensen Interceptor, updated Lancia HF? But they all have a very different experience and will not get the same love. I think?

You do need to use Morgan's to love them. Then the niggles get offset by the smiles. I have not driven the S2 for a long time now but again when I do I just fall back in love with it. The limited dealerships and concern about parts availability for some models is a real worry.

Having owned a couple of Porks, 930 turbo flat-nose death missile and a couple of 968 Club Sports, I lost my love of Pork when the 996 hit the ranks. Respect for the engineering remains but not love of the experience anymore. I guess the same could be seen as true for many of the high end vendors though. Cars have become so fast and capable that it is hard to really experience them as they are meant to be.

Saying Pork can amortise the parts and development costs across more units totally underestimates the leverage of being part of the VAG brand group. How much is shared with Audi, in engines alone. Taycan and eTron-GT, Cayenne and Q whatever. As for BMW with the new XM, good god. You know that as soon as you have ordered a Pork (any model) the new one will be along with a 5.3% improvement in most metrics. Except engagement. The Boxster range is from £53k (say £60k with the bits you need!) up to £140k for the new final GT4RS edition.

It does seem fair to say it would better to compare Morgan with Lotus, but only the Lotus of before (now, just about) given the thinly branded BEV elephants coming down the pipe in the very near future. Bang goes another pure brand. We will be back to Caterham (now Japanese which could prove good) alone shortly.

It is a mess for purists or people looking to enjoy travel and not just arrive.

Until I find something that matches the total (good bit) experience I won't be letting go. I just need to use it more.

Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

All sage words, I am lucky to have access to other GT cars in which to arrive. I agree on the travel bit and the pleasure it gives other people but pragmatism also has to play a part, but it is also a work of art
