Now I am a believer in this quantum entanglement phenomenon where spooky little tiny bits of matter behave in unison although they'er a long way appart. My 4/4 failed its M.O.T. and has persuaded me to do a thorough check over of the front end. with warm dry weather and wearing old clothes I am crawling about underneath to do the greasong of front wheel bearings. Also replacing the leather boots which I cloak the sliding pillars in; checked over the brake pads, and have removed the Quaife steering rack for adjustment and re-greasing. One of the rubber bellows had failed and of course this is a MOT failure issue, so becomes rather urgent. I intend taking photos of the rack in bits for the maintenance section of our talk-morgan pages.

We have systems in some vehicles which can recognise a tired driver and advises when to take a rest. The ubiquitous ECU tells if one wheel is running flat or checks an engine every second, etc.

The thinking Morgan could make a skilled driver out of a novice driver. A reckless driver, an intoxicated driver or even a sleeping driver could be driven home after a night on the tiles.

Buzz words speak of sinister aspects of AI – But the genie is already out of the lamp.

Therefore my last question on AI and your Morgan conveyance is this.
Would a lack of any of the above mentioned attributes stop you from buying a Morgan in the first place and what's all the fuss about ? ooo confused2 crazy2 drive

I see it as a bit like the order of ingredients in a meal.
The contents have to be listed by order of % included. The item that there is most of coming first.

Artificial is first on the list
Intelligence is only second.

False belief systems can easily be invented if you feed it a poor truth. A bit like human beings and sochul medier in that respect.

We fed one with a broad spectrum of partial truths to see if we could corrupt it and it worked. Monkey nuts in, monkey out.

cheers Thanks for your summing up of this issue - It's made me think a bit harder and I have come to the same conclusion as you.

Perhaps we should work a bit on upping the performance of Natural Intelligence .... seems like half the people I come across in a given day wouldn't pass a Turing Test! 🙂

A significant minority have no processing power left over once they have dealt with respiration and cardio vascular systems.

I see it going the other way. Laziness is becoming endemic. The more you give them compensating tools the more they take a step back from thinking.

Luk at the spl on soc med. Emojis can achieve a full sentence now. Almost no requirement to use actual words. wine juggle flag

Pretty soon keyboards will not have letters but just images and poor audio to speech conversion will be used.
How many of us laughed when an audio to speech tool said "I am not programmed for Australian" (sorry English joke, not meant to demean Aussie's) or when their natural first language is not enabled in the tool, much bigger issue. The upside I could see would be the ability for those with challenges (sight, hearing) to leverage these powerful platforms to offset some of the issues and be better engaged. If it was done well.

If you want a giggle and have a smart TV or some similar tool? Go to a film and turn on closed captions (subtitles) as many of them are done using real time speech to text. Some of the stuff that turns up is quite comical. Not bad enough to start a war but it could cause people with second and third language people enough confusion they stop trying. Given many people learn from listening to TV and using subtitles then we can see the gap increasing. Of course AI will improve this translation won't it.

Anyone hacked off with the stupid automated telephone answering robots which try and put you through to the right person? Technically they can be made excellent but they are usually setup for a minimum contract cost and so make you want to destroy your phone. As soon as something comes out of prototype and goes into the price book then the cost of deployment also gets put in the spotlight. They also rely on massive data pools to learn, show me a more interesting honeypot for hackers. How will this be paid for? Advertising of course, you will be fed more AI proven blah-blah. As we have discussed before, you will become the product of the system as it mines you for ever more complex targetted advertising using all aspects of your activity. It will know your favourite colour, smell and activitiy. The cheapest bid wins and yet somehow they still find people willing to be astronauts!.

Technically AI has been around for years in different more limited forms. Machine Learning would be a model I am more comfortable with - https://ai.engineering.columbia.edu/ai-vs-machine-learning/

So we become more dependent and less intelligent with little in the way of complex problem resolution skills. Sorry if I sound like Marvin from HHGTTG(42) but all I see is increasing volumes of monkeys and nuts. Just have to work out which ones are which. AI will just make it easier to revert to a lower capability as a society. There is already a slightly cringeworthy but stingingly funny film about this https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0387808/ Idiocracy.

You can tell from my lmtd spilling and gramma that I am already part way there! That should be a good indicator of the problem. Our in house grama monitors probably laugh every time they read my emails. Hi Bob wink

If they could prune the Interweb I for one would clip that tree off before commerce works out how to monetise us further, sorry it further.

Or we could all have a big set of seriously iffy responses prepared to abuse the new child of satan. Everytime it asks you a question just say "what are you wearing" and wait for the error message. Mind you it would start to build a deeply worrying profile of you which could be fun or very dangerous.
