Perhaps we should work a bit on upping the performance of Natural Intelligence .... seems like half the people I come across in a given day wouldn't pass a Turing Test! 🙂K
I see it going the other way. Laziness is becoming endemic. The more you give them compensating tools the more they take a step back from thinking.
Luk at the spl on soc med. Emojis can achieve a full sentence now. Almost no requirement to use actual words.

Pretty soon keyboards will not have letters but just images and poor audio to speech conversion will be used.
How many of us laughed when an audio to speech tool said "I am not programmed for Australian" (sorry English joke, not meant to demean Aussie's) or when their natural first language is not enabled in the tool, much bigger issue. The upside I could see would be the ability for those with challenges (sight, hearing) to leverage these powerful platforms to offset some of the issues and be better engaged. If it was done well.
If you want a giggle and have a smart TV or some similar tool? Go to a film and turn on closed captions (subtitles) as many of them are done using real time speech to text. Some of the stuff that turns up is quite comical. Not bad enough to start a war but it could cause people with second and third language people enough confusion they stop trying. Given many people learn from listening to TV and using subtitles then we can see the gap increasing. Of course AI will improve this translation won't it.
Anyone hacked off with the stupid automated telephone answering robots which try and put you through to the right person? Technically they can be made excellent but they are usually setup for a minimum contract cost and so make you want to destroy your phone. As soon as something comes out of prototype and goes into the price book then the cost of deployment also gets put in the spotlight. They also rely on massive data pools to learn, show me a more interesting honeypot for hackers. How will this be paid for? Advertising of course, you will be fed more AI proven blah-blah. As we have discussed before, you will become the product of the system as it mines you for ever more complex targetted advertising using all aspects of your activity. It will know your favourite colour, smell and activitiy. The cheapest bid wins and yet somehow they still find people willing to be astronauts!.
Technically AI has been around for years in different more limited forms. Machine Learning would be a model I am more comfortable with -
https://ai.engineering.columbia.edu/ai-vs-machine-learning/So we become more dependent and less intelligent with little in the way of complex problem resolution skills. Sorry if I sound like Marvin from HHGTTG(42) but all I see is increasing volumes of monkeys and nuts. Just have to work out which ones are which. AI will just make it easier to revert to a lower capability as a society. There is already a slightly cringeworthy but stingingly funny film about this
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0387808/ Idiocracy.
You can tell from my lmtd spilling and gramma that I am already part way there! That should be a good indicator of the problem. Our in house grama monitors probably laugh every time they read my emails. Hi Bob

If they could prune the Interweb I for one would clip that tree off before commerce works out how to monetise us further, sorry it further.
Or we could all have a big set of seriously iffy responses prepared to abuse the new child of satan. Everytime it asks you a question just say "what are you wearing" and wait for the error message. Mind you it would start to build a deeply worrying profile of you which could be fun or very dangerous.
