Hi, I have a 22 model year Plus Six, I’m finding that when I let the fuel gauge go down to half way into the red zone, I can only squeeze 29 litres into the tank. Does anyone know what the actual usable fuel capacity is ? (I believe the overall tank capacity is 46 Litres, but I’m not convinced). Also do owners tend to use the mileage between refills rather than relying on the gauge?, if so what mileage figure do you use ?. According to the fuel consumption read out I’m achieving 33 MPG.

Thanks for any help Nick

Push the pedal harder to correct the 33mpg blush

On the Aero this will often happen. I use the distance on the ODO and reset after each filling.
In the end the factory did something (grounding?) which did significantly improve it.

New to plus six ownership 32 mpg on my first 20 miles with my son and a quite staggering 42 mpg on a 140 miler with the wife all on a and b roads. From three quarter the gauge seems to drop quicker. Were on a nice long run tomorrow taking in some motorway I recon it will give fortyish I can't quite believe it. The only thing the Aero had difficulty passing was a petrol station....

I had 3 Morgans, all 3 had a strangely functioning fuel gauge coffee

Hi, capacity is 46 litres but if I remember well you cannot use the 8 last litres for an obscure reason of tank design nono

My P6 petrol gauge is certainly not linear the gauge certainly drops away faster from half way.
Interestingly we traveled up to the Lake District at motorway spreads and the car returned 45.1 mpg, touring around 38.6 not bad for a performance sports car. I always use super unleaded fuel and I can feel the benefit in performance and economy.

Thanks for the replies, some incredible fuel consumption figures being achieved and makes me feel ashamed of my 33 mpg !

I suppose what I’m really after is the realistic range that owners are achieving ?. I’m getting very nervous once the fuel gauge needle is half way into the red zone and then disappointed when I only manage to get 29 Litres into the tank, particularly when it appears the tanks holds 38 Litres of usable fuel.

Can’t comment on the Plus Six, but there are other threads with similar comments re the Plus Four fuel gauge and suspicion that even when it shows empty there is still a reasonable amount of fuel in it. What I’ve noticed with my Plus Four is you drive for 70+ miles and the dial doesn’t change from full, then it starts to drop more steadily, but seems to drop faster once it is on half. Normally I refuel before in gets to yellow but even if part way through yellow, I never get much more than 28 litres in it.

Does the P6 not have a range readout option within that fancy digital dash ?

Even 3.7 Roadsters have it, and it's surprisingly accurate, plus you get a dash and audible warning at 40 miles left
