Hello Jens I'm very sorry that the same thing happened to you as to me. I think there is a general problem with the weld of the bracket. Nevertheless, have fun on your journey.

Today we had on our trip south to Glasgow about 28 Degree C and bright sunshine, so I decided to ride without the sidescreens🤓 Unfortunately the additional weight of the sidescreens (and their bag) seemed to be too much for the lower brackets of the luggage rack🤔😬 (like Clemens experience on his Italy trip…) ![[Linked Image]](http://tm-img.com/images/2023/06/13/IMG_1381.jpeg) Luckly one of my fellow drivers has a station wagon with a lot of space in his trunk for rack and box. So I am able to continue the trip without big hurdles…🤓 Will be an interesting discussion with my dealer after my return to Germany (they handle also Clemens‘s case…) And the box should weigh about 20 kg (will doublecheck after my return) I hope we will not have other unpleasant surprises during our last days in Great Britain. The weather seems to stay good until Friday. Tomorrow we will hit the roads in the Lake District 😃 So sorry to hear that. I have a feeling my PlusFour is from the same badge, MY 2022, build end 2022. We used a rather modest leather suitcase on our rack and had no troubles traveling through Danmark.. I wonder if I will contact the dealer in the Netherland and ask if they know of this and maybe take some precautious steps?!

I had our 2020 Plus Six up in the air today for underbody inspection before we take it to France. So based on the two rear rack anchor point failures seen on the Plus Fours I decided to take a quick look at the brackets. Although the rear rack on the Plus Six sits lower than the Plus Four ( no spare wheel ) the same lower rack anchor point design is used. It is apparent that the part that is breaking free on the bracket is only welded from its rear, in Jens photo you can see that there is a female slot machined in the section that is still bolted to the car and a corresponding male slot is used to go into it on the part thats broken free, the only weld holding the two sections together is the weld across the rear of the slots. The two parts need a fillet weld down each side and the rear slotted section needs a more substantial weld across its back, that would make it very strong. There are two Hex headed screws that hold each bracket to the rear of the subframe, I believe the rear valance has to be part removed to gain access to these. The valance is held by bolts each side in the wheel arch and I suspect a series of bolts internally holding the rear valance in place. On the Plus Six its looking like the rear circular closure has to be removed ( spare off on the Plus Four ) to gain access to these.. Also there are wiring runs behind the rear valance for the number plate/fog/reversing light. As our Plus Six is now out of warranty, its looking like a winter job for me to reweld the stainless brackets. Luckily I have the SS rods and the welding kit to do it.

My dealer also said the bracket was not well made and when the new bracket is delivered it will be stainless steel welded again on both sides.

Thank you Clemens, I will discuss this with my dealer and will have this done. The dealer only has seen it happening once in 2021. I'll see a PlusSix owner this weekend, and we'll discuss the matter to bring this together up to our dealer. We'll have this done, don't like to have worries about it while traveling!

Looks lovely - just in the window for the weather as well.
I am guessing the local insects are greeting the front of the car with vigour!
