My roadster 2004 won't start. what was an occasional issue is now a problem as the dash ignition lights do not come on.
On examining the relays behind the dash there appears to be 5 in a group and a sixth that just sits in the wiring loom that i take to be the wipers.
My questions are :- what are the five in a line doing? ( I THINK THERE WAS A PREVIOUS THREAD ON THIS TOPIC)there is some corrosion on the lugs of one of them.
where can i get replacements as i am not sure if the descriptions on the internet search match those on the relay.
I seem to have 4 identical relays with a code 3085 868787a.
The fifth one is different.

Electrics isn't my thing so any guidance would be most welcome.

The numbers you quote Paul are the individual generic pin codes for a 5 pin relay with changeover contacts, so not defining it. Typically though they would be cube shaped 5 pin 12 volt 40 amp mini relays with diode protection (important) available on line or at all good auto electric outlets. They are sometimes supplied with a metal mounting lug which needs to be removed. The wiper relay is a dedicated item however.

Always wise to carry a couple of replacements with you which can be quickly plugged in if only for fault finding

The five similar ones in a row are starter, fuel pump, ignition/ECU, rad fan low speed, rad fan high speed as viewed right to left.

If no dash lights with ignition on I would suspect the ignition/ECU relay. If simply starter not working then the starter relay.

The fuel pump one also fires up the ECU and the dash ignition etc.

many thanks gents.
It looks like its the fuel pump relay which is showing signs of corrosion.
I shall change the relays over to see if it fixes it.

It's a good idea to buy diode protected relays, I use the Durite range for quality and reliability. Ensure that you get the correct pin orientation to suit your existing sockets, oh and correct current rating of contacts, i think i used 30amp throughout to be on the safe side.
