That's just brilliant John, A real road test indeed! I think it's now become a collective success and I don't think that position or function could be bettered. It also looks like it was designed as an extra option for a launch vehicle although in 1936 that would probably have been a holder for the semaphore flags!

Thanks Nick, I think I'm as happy as I could possibly be with the siting and position. If I'm out on my own I still tend to use the top right hand corner of the screen with the suction mount as its right in the line of sight without blocking my view and I can hear the voice commands better but that's obviously with the roof down, roof up it's now to the dash mount!
Martin. Someone in a related thread suggested Bluetooth earphones for following voice commands when driving topless. I have tried this and it works a treat. You can turn up the volume if needed when going flat out and no wires dangling from the phone.

A tip with the voice commands. If you have a Bluetooth capable radio installed Google maps on your phone will patch through to radio speakers with auto mute of any music, and voice at a higher level.

The mount is now perfect . I have drilled the hole and it has worked fine for over 1100 miles now including the A12 bouncy road test & touring in Normandy.
I realised the phone camera now pokes above the scuttle and having been cut up by lane weaving morons on the M25 & A12 coming back from France I have downloaded a dash cam app to see if that would work.

Let us know John how it goes with the camera and sat nav app. That was the next thing I was going to get my head switched on to, You may well have solved the problem and decluttered the screen in the process!

I downloaded Drive Recorder a free app. Today going & from Sutton Hoo it recorded OK but the position of the phone was critical. In the wrong spot it focussed on the wiper arm & traffic was out of focus. In the right position it works

A quick thank you to Nick for putting me in touch with Mark. Sat nav bracket delivered over Christmas and have just now got round to fitting and testing. Very impressed with fit although I did cover mine in a leatherette to try and match the dash as best I could. I also drilled a whole to fix a clip. The end result is really good, very stable when driving albeit I use it as a phone holder to enable me to use the phone as an audio controller. ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2024/01/17/IMG_5657.jpeg)
