Does anyone know?

Or does anyone have a recommendation for a bit of bespoke jiggery pokery?

My Plus 4 struggles every year at MoT time, it gets through but its butt clenching. So I'm just contemplating going for a better cat.

You can actually buy cat inserts for bikes but I'm not sure how effective one if these would be as an add on.

Dave
Librands exhausts are made by Piper Cams in Folkestone - 01303 245300.
Might be worth a call.

Just a thought Dave, do you presently have a MEX1107 silencer which is the straight through one? If so I still have a low mileage MEX1105 baffled one which may warm your CAT better thinking

I'll consider that option Richard thanks....pop me a PM please about how much you want for it, and remind me how far away you are!

The MOT day was scorching hot, and my cat is triple wrapped so it shouldn't really be a heat issue, but then again, a baffled silencer would ease the noise a bit.

I've never seen the temp gauge at 110c before, but the Sifab rad handled it well. We were using prolonged revs because, as you probably know, the sensor counts down over maybe 30 seconds, and it's a race between the clock and the needles on the screen which do come into the green just in time but its very close.

Oh, and the irony is that my S1 Roadster has all three needles rock solid at the "green end" of the scale whether ticking over, or revving.

Dave, a couple of TM users have used these https://www.pdgough.com/
Not too far away at Nottingham

And I have these too, who a Speedmog competitor used https://www.stainless-exhaust.com/

Dave, that sounds a bit worrying to me... maybe the Clubsport/AR-update to the GDI Plus 4 is not that "delighting" after all?
And would wrapping the manifold help to increase the cat temp?

Well Robert, the standard GDI set up was also marginal on emissions. Following in the footsteps of the Plus 4 Supersports, which also had big issues at the start. I did wrap the manifolds for a short period, but was wary about heat sink into the head, so now I have an insulated cover over the manifold to retain heat.

With respect to the Akrapovic catalytic converter inserts, so far I've had zero progress. I would like to try one and it needs to be 48mm diam to fit inside the front of the main silencer.
I enquired at Demon Tweeks. The reply was these are for motor bikes. That was it.
I tried another supplier. His response was that he orders by motorbike model and has no idea of the dimensions. So neither were helpful at all!!

It may not work, but it's worth a shot. A bigger cat is possible but expensive. I see the complete AR system now costs £3,200.

I'm going to try the baffled main silencer and use the original air filter instead of K&N, as a first step.

Do cat's become less efficient over time ?

As yours is perhaps 7 yrs old Dave, would just an OE replacement work ?
