They do lose efficiency yes but this one is only probably on 4k miles. Fitted 2019.

The MOT day was scorching hot, and my cat is triple wrapped so it shouldn't really be a heat issue, but then again, a baffled silencer would ease the noise a bit.

I've never seen the temp gauge at 110c before, but the Sifab rad handled it well. We were using prolonged revs because, as you probably know, the sensor counts down over maybe 30 seconds, and it's a race between the clock and the needles on the screen which do come into the green just in time but its very close.

Oh, and the irony is that my S1 Roadster has all three needles rock solid at the "green end" of the scale whether ticking over, or revving.
Hi Dave. What did you wrap the cat with and what is the purpose?

The reaction is a first order rate reaction i.e the catalyst works better the hotter it is within reason as melting it won't help. Hence the wrap. I guess you use exhaust manifold tape.

This iwhy the lambda sensor have an eror code for low temperature.

Dave. I am on holidays and I just saw this post. Personally I think that the quality and size of the cats used by, or supplied to Morgan, are marginally fit for purpose. I also had absolutely negative results from trying to contact the manufacturer. I suspect that they are not interested in talking to end users.

It might be worth reading my post at http://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/432639/a-tale-of-3-cats

As you will see I replaced the original cat with a larger capacity and better quality cat. The car, some years later, recently passed an emissions test with no problems.

Thanks Peter. I'll digest that when I get home.

Gents, I am starting to think that the Clubsport Conversion is really not such a good idea, with all the cat-wise challenges expressed here...
Is this once a again a classical lack of proper engineering by MMC? "Oh well, it's a Morgan - you have to work on it!"

I also have this 300 cells metallic „Brain“ catalyst from Milano which Peter uses since almost seven years. Brain is a company which belongs to the HJS group and offers high quality. 300 cells keeps you safe to pass the MOT and it also allows better flow than the more popular 400 cells cats. No German MOT failed using this cat in combination with a one-off sports manifold on my 4/4 Sigma.

Thanks Heinz, copied - but it seems I will not be able to have the Clubsport ECU flash installed unless I accept the "official" Clubsport exhaust setup, including the catalyst that was mentioned before.
And I wonder if there's anybody here who has had this full Clubsport upgrade installed on EU mainland (thinking of E-certificates for the parts...)?

You need to try a Plus 4 with the AR upgrade Robert. It's a different car, and yes, MMC could have made it a lot less marginal on emissions.
