1995 Plus 8 Went to a car show Sunday. Temp in the low 80's. Bright sun. No shade. No breeze. Didn't open the bonnet all day, Morgan sat on hot pavement from 9AM to 3:30PM. When I tried to start it to come home it would only stay running if I kept the revs up. After about 3/8 mile it cured itself and we drove home with no problem.Parked in the garage. An hour or so later started and it idled just fine.
This a problem with Morgans.
My easy fix is to open the bonnet about 1/2 hour before leaving a show, but I shouldn't have to.

Sounds like the fuel lines remained very hot and only cooled after sufficient fuel had flowed through them to reduce vaporisation.
Fuel line on my much later Roadster (Ford Cyclone engine) is wrapped, maybe that could be an answer.

It gets HOT under a Plus8 bonnet! I’ve measured the surface temp on my stainless air filter box at 50deg after a summer run. Never had problems starting though. The cast iron OE exhaust manifolds are not shielded so supple a lot of hot air. The brake master cylinder is shielded as it’s near one manifold.

As Sospan says the +8 runs very hot under the bonnet and our USA summers can be significantly hotter than the UK summers. On my 94 +8 I have heat wrapped the fuel lines (a cheap fail safe) as they run close to the headers and the engine bay has no insulation, the fact it started and ran OK after under 1/2 a mile would indicate it just needed fresh fuel to the engine.
