Just like to point out that an Imperial pint is 20 fl oz, rather than the US of A 16 fl oz - US gallon are still 8 pints Phil  In the US we deal almost exclusively in Imperial. You can pry those Imperial measures from the other cold dead hand that isn't holding our gun. I don't know why anyone would want to switch to a much simplier system based on measures of 10. The rest of the world simply wants to turn off their brains!  But conversely, you Americans made the totally bizarre decision that a hundredweight should be 100 pounds, rather than the much more logical 112 lbs in the British "avoirdupois" system.  A side effect of this is that the British ton is almost exactly the same as a metric tonne, whereas a US one is nearly 10% lighter.
