Just back from Thursdays FOS, we have never been before, as we normally go to the Revival. No major rain on Thursday, weather was a bit cold in the morning and baking hot in the afternoon. Light crowds around in the morning but fairly full by 1400 hrs and heaving around the pits I enjoyed the event, but still think the Revival is more interesting and fun. This year at the FOS they are celebrating 75 years of motorsport, with Porche being celebrated..A big display of all manufacturers electric cars and supercars, but to me I thought the majority looked a bit plain and boring. Watching the hillclimb batchs go up the track the majority of petrol driven cars were full on and something else, all noise, vibration and wow factor. The electric cars just silently wizzed by.. still going fast, but ( to me ) soul less... Not a huge amount of trading stands, but the ones that were there were interesting.. Had a nice long chat with the two guys at the Pembleton stand..I thought their T24 4 wheeler was great but the wife was saying no..I tried though.. Also had a good look on the Norton stand at their three production model bikes.. much much better engineering showing through.. again sorely tempted by the 961 commando.. No Morgans on display.. now to me I would have thought the FOS would have been a big marketing opportunity.. Just by undertaking a run up the hill climb.. or a small display of vehicles as per Pembleton.. there was a good mix of ages at the FOS, something I would have thought that Morgan would go for.. Anyway, it was a good day, but the Revival is better fun and this year the Cobra and Carroll Shelby are to be celebrated..now that will be noisy...

Going to check out the Mcmurtry electric fan-car in the live stream .... paddock mate of mine will be doing the demo runs .... Alex Summers, former British Hillclimb Champion and a cracking driver .... I'd like to see him being given the same seat time as the ex-F1 driver, think the two of them sparking off each other would drop the outright record by a good bit!!
Always fancied the FOS but the crowds put me off ... however, I must make the revival sometime soon whileI still can! 🙂

I will probably watch the timed shootout on TV, but no doubt an EV will post the fastest time

I've been lucky enough to attend all 3, FOS, members meeting and revival.
FOS, I was very fortunate to go along as a guest of someone who had the full Porsche hospitality package. I'd never been to the FOS before so it was certainly worth going. Porsche were extremely hospitable.....! (I've been to Geneva as a guest of Porsche as well🥳)
I've been to the Members meeting a couple of times, it is very good, the right crowd and no crowding, as they used to say about Brooklands.
The Revival............. Amazing. I've been quite a few times...! I'm already looking forward to this years event. If you ever get the chance you must go. Dress up, go early, try to see everything....! You won't make it round everything in one day, there is so much to see. You could spend half a day in the normal car park, a day in the pre 66 car park before you even get into the 'over the road' part of the event. When you finally get over the bridge into the main event there is soooooo much to see and do, and there's motor racing going on at the same time....!

I posted about the Pembleton stand in another thread: Caterham Project V. I had a bit more luck than you. My wife didn't exactly say no ... she just did that "women's maths" thing that always results in us not having enough of the readies. But she said she liked the car, a piece of information I've filed away for possible future use Morgan had a stand at FoS in the early years. Some of the dealers had a precence when MMC didn't, Crazy Horse, in particular, attended for a couple of years. Not a single Morgan representation this year, either in the exhibitors or the paddocks, which is disappointing.

Just posted on the UK Hillclimb site that the FOS is cancelled for tomorrow (Saturday) due to safety concerns with expected high winds and their various temporary structures ... they expect Sunday to be as normal. Yes, that's a real shame (I nearly said a bit of a blow!)
There'll be a lot of disappointed people in the area now looking for somewhere else to go. I think Mercedes World, Brooklands and Beaulieu will all be a lot busier than usual. I'm just glad I've already got a pub booking for lunchtime.
It's pretty windy here but nothing dangerous at the moment. They expect the event to run tomorrow so fingers crossed.

Been to both. The Revival is far more appealing. A friend, a motoring journalist couldn't attend some years ago and gave me all his accreditation passes. Deal was I had to write 1200 words and take some photos. I was like a "kid in a sweet shop". Got me everywhere, wrote the article which was printed as I had written it.

TV coverage is dreadful, just turned it off absolutely no action just a load of inane chatter about nothing interesting, cars roaring up the hill in the background.
