Your right as far as I understood. An MOT tester is on here called AndyMOT. Try a PM to him.

Oh & welcome to TM

Tell the tester to check his testing manual

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/mot-ins...eels-tyres-and-suspension#section-5-1-2.

Para 5.2.3 regarding condition and fitment of tyres and in particular cars fitted with lock stops.

Nb - this is why I always adjust the tyre rubbing block to contact the tyre first when fitting crosshead braces!

You have to have properly maintained lock stops to pass, unless the rubbing has only been occasional when cornering hard, for instance. But if they rub the body when turning the steering wheel without the car under load, then it’s a fail. No matter what has been accepted in the past, ‘cos “rules is rules”, as they say!

Pete,

you can appeal the MOT Testers decision.
From the Government Website....

You can appeal against the failure if you think it's wrong. Fill in the complaint form and send it to DVSA within 14 working days of the test. DVSA will contact you within 5 days to discuss your appeal. If DVSA decides to recheck your vehicle, you'll need to arrange a date and pay the full test fee again.

Or simply take the car to another MOT place. You don't mention where you are.

I would take it to a Morgan specialist for an MOT. You won't have a problem if it is within normal Morgan parameters.

Not sure where the contact is, but you can it a couple of these: Chassis Steering Stop to the chassis. £40 the pair

Allowed under MOT:

Couple of what? Do you mean the rollers Rutter sells?

Peter where are you based? Most MOG owners have a classic car friendly MOT station the use.

I am a bit confused now. In the original posting you said it failed because the tyres were touching the body on full lock, according to the tester. Now you are saying they are not rubbing on the body at all, whether under load or not.
Either they are or they aren’t! If they aren’t why did tester say they were?
If you take it elsewhere, I guess that the new tester will be presented with details of the failure from the online system, which may scupper your chances if indeed there is a problem in the first place.
