Running the 3-wheeler the other day noticed voltage on the readout at 17.1. Normally at 14.1 ish... Any thoughts? Yet another regulator biting the dust??

You should normally be seeing more like 14.4 volts when running at more than about 1,500 rpm. at 17.1 you are in danger of overcharging/overheating the battery and, more importantly cooking your ECU.

Unfortunately it does all point to the regulator and a well proven replacement is detailed in the Alternative Parts List.

If your regulator is still mounted on the engine mount, I would suggest relocating to the body somewhere. In this photo you can see where I relocated mine. Look just below the left turn signal.
In this position it gets direct cooling air when viewed straight on.

Yes get that sorted quickly as it will impair life of battery due to extra acidity in electrolyte from overcharging. ECU damage is unpredictable but certainly possible.

The regulator the Harley type can be reliably mounted in the same place as the OEM. You can also mount it directly to the backplate, no need for the rubber isolator blocks.

If you replace with an OEM Morgan regulator then moving the mount to the later car's side of the engine location is a good idea.

Did you make a mounting/backing plate to be located behind the body panel inside the footwell forward of the pedal assembly?

It is a cleaner location for the rectifier for sure.

Also check the earth connections are good and clean and more importantly a metal to metal contact (Morgan seem to think a shakeproof washer makes a good earth connection without removing any paint), i have had similar regulator problem with a bad earths on a classic car purely down to a bad earth

If anyone wants to relocate their Rectifier, this may help.

I used a fabricated nut plate on the inside for my install, but I like Bunny's rivnut idea as well.
