On separate note, I've looked closer today at clutch return spring issue I had. Strangely though it's resolved itself now. Stranger still is the fact there is no spring on pedal side of bulkhead, not even broken one! The parts book confirms there should be one for Roadster and that's what I bought as replacement the other day. Can only assume there is a strong spring in the m/cylinder and that got jammed by mechanic with longer legs than me during dyno seesion on Friday but has since popped back

It may explain why a 2014 Brooklands Roadster had an unusually strong clutch action though if it did have the extra spring, as revealed when car was loaned out by KH to CX owner last year.

My S1 had a return spring (the one that coils around the common pedal shaft) after some years and whilst replacing the master cyl, I noticed the cyl had a decent internal return spring plus obviously the clutch diaphram is very strong, so left off the pedal spring, nice softer action and no problems during the remaining years of ownership

My 3.7, doesn't have the pedal spring and to be honest I can't remember if it was OE fitted or I just removed it, I seem to remember that quite a few people testing 3.7's used to comment on the very heavy clutch so the Factory left them off later cars (sometimes )

Yes I have the spring & the clutch does need prop forward thighs like tug boats. Ex UCL Fourths so the flab remains!

Richard I remember when I got the car the clutch was a bit on off like you describe. It had done 9k in 6 years and year 6 was I think 50 miles. So I put it down to little use , greased the spring & didn't look back

Well removing pedal spring seems the answer John.

Re broken front shock upper mount plate. Replacement arrived today so full marks to BHM. Quickly fitted so will make meet tomorrow in Morton

Just collected my 2005 Roadster S1 from Life's Motors. It went in for new front SSL kit, registration plate brackets fix, fuel pipe split and clutch biting point too low.
The clutch turned out to be a fuel pipe that had swollen at the ends and no clips to retain, so new pipe and clips, drain and refill fluid - Clutch is perfect.
Matt at Life's made new brackets for the front registration plate, sourced and replaced fuel filler pipe.
SSL - The car drives beautifully, no more bouncing front after bumps in the road, it handles just great.
The old king pins were damaged slightly and the mine was one of the years to have plastic bushes (i think thats what they're called) so they were replaced.
All in all it feels like getting a new MOG huge smile on my face driving back from Southport. Thanks Matt

Started laying down the chassis for my 1955 Plus 4 4 seat Drop Head Coupe.

Axle fitted and rear brakes installed. Rear shock mounts marked out and ready to be bolted on. Waiting on some stainless fasteners before installing crosshead.

Started rebuilding the original engine for my 1968 Plus 4. New camshaft bearings installed which was a bit of a pain in the arse. Liners and figure 8 seals going in tomorrow
