If you do go down that route I would recommend the recently announced Fiat 500 clone of it. At least you would not have to look at the faces of people staring at you with shock at how ugly it is then. Given how slow it is you may take some time to pass them as they walk along the pavement oops

I could not honestly recommend it to anyone I care for or a fellow Mog owner. Ugly and so slow you risk becoming a crumple zone to everything. I get the idea behind the "max-20" rule but I would still prefer to have enough power to get out of the way of the accident rather than cause it?

I would be in the queue for a Renault Zoe a long time before looking at an Ami. The original one was no beauty but this new one makes me wonder what Citroen are up to?

So here are my experiences after 6 months electric vehicle ( MB EQS )

The range is depending on weather and driving between minimum 450 and maximum 600 km. I have already reached both values.
Charging on German highways has been problem-free so far. The navigation software automatically drives me to the next fast charging station in order not to fall below an adjustable threshold value of the battery charge. It is always displayed which charging capacity the charging station has, how many charging points are available and how many are occupied. That has always worked so far. At a fast charging station, I can fill up for 200 km in 10 minutes. I have never driven more than 700 km in one day. In my opinion, it is absolutely necessary to be able to charge at home, so that you can always start a journey with 100% battery power. This requires a bit of planning. The purchase of an EV is more expensive than a vehicle with a combustion engine.
Unfortunately, as a petrol head, I have to admit that EV works quite well.

I can understand why they put a suicide door into the Citroen Ami!

I really rate the Zoe. My son bought a 10year old one for £4.5k as a second car, the battery is leased for £50 per month so has a permanent warranty. It’s a really great car, swmbo prefers it to their SUV.

I agree with Clemens, with a robust and reliable charging system and home charging capability EVs are perfectly good appliances able to cover long distances comfortably.

BUT the UK does not have anything approaching a robust and reliable charging system and the power distribution system lacks the capacity to provide 30 amp 240v charging for all who might want it.

SO.....I'm not going to bother the power distribution people and stick with petrol/gasoline for the next 10 years.

Forgot something else ... I only book hotels that have charging options. This is similar to 20 years ago with the wifi ... that was then also a must have for a hotel booking. Today, free wifi is standard in hotels ... hope the same for EV charging station in the next few years.😊

She's just been told it's something 'technical' smile smile

They are waiting for an engineer visit.

I have de-fleeted (!) and now have only the Morgan (which is on SORN for half the year) and the Tesla. I regularly drive 150 miles a day and have had no reliability issues and nor do I worry about having any. I have no need for back-up car, although given the reliability of ICE engines, the Tesla would actually make for a decent back-up. smile

With only 200 moving parts (compared to 2,500 or so in an ICE) there's not much to go wrong. The batteries will easily last 150,00 miles (rated for up to 500,000, which I don't totally believe) at which point the car will be about as valuable as my Range Rover was with the same mileage - just loose change. I'll buy another at that point and will almost certainly buy the Tesla Roadster when it launches.

It is possible to like both ICE and EV - they're not quite as polarising as some would have on here. I've owned a large number of ICE cars and really enjoy the practicality and performance of an EV.
