Afternoon all from a mixed bag of weather in France.
I was greasing the front suspension and inspecting the wheels today, when I noticed that the tyres, at 10000 miles and four years old have 6mm of tread depth on the outer groove and 4mm on the inner, on both front wheels. There are no other visible signs of tyre wear and I don't know how long this has been going on. This years control technique did not flag it. Could the team advise please. Thank you.

Sounds like your car has been driven with over inflated tyres. What pressures do you use in psi.

Sounds like the tracking is a little out.

If the tread is deeper on both outer grooves compared to the middle I'll go with Richard

If the tread is deeper on the outside of the tyre compared to the inside I'll go with Graham

yes the tread is deeper on the outside of each tyre by 2mm.So, from the inside outwards 4,6,5,6mm. Pressures are 22psi.
Is this sortable by a rural garage tyre shop do you think ?

Tracking should be straightforward for a general garage or tyre fitter.

Wear on inside edge is caused by camber. I get a bit on my 4/4.

[Linked Image

You can see the difference due one side would not quite go far enough on the jig.

I swap the tyres front to back to help even the wear, as adjusting the camber on older cars requires blank camber plates & a drill.

I wouldn't worry too much, the front end geometry on a trad Mog (unless you regularly check & tweak) is never going to be super accurate, you've plenty of wear left considering you need to replace the tyres in 2 years for safety anyway...drive & enjoy !

Well I can’t get the script to appear after the picture. Tried 3 times it just disappears.
Anyway you can see my camber is not quite even as reached the jig limit. On older cars like my 2011 the camber can only be altered by using a blank camber plate & drilling new holes. I swap the wheels front to back to help even the wear.
