Dave, did you ever try a non-return valve in the servo vacuum line ?

Dave, did you ever try a non-return valve in the servo vacuum line ? It has one as standard on the inlet pipe entry on the servo

I wounder if the MG Parts Catalogue been so reasonably priced holds back the value growth increase in these Cars, they have to be one of the best classics to own financially.

Possibly - it certainly worked in my favour! They did build a lot of them - half a million, with over a 100,000 GT's so there are still a stack of them around which may affect prices.
Other factors are the rust issues, and I also think they have a bit of an 'old mans car' reputation - get a whole stack of people to name their top ten ' classic sports cars' and I doubt the MGB would appear in many lists.
I'm really happy with mine, and it handles its role of 'daily driver' really well, but compared to the 10 year older Mog, it's a bit of a 'poor cousin'. Did a couple of hundred miles in the Mog this weekend, and it outperforms the MG in every area (apart from comfort in the rain!)

MGB prices are held down by numbers made and so many bodged cars out there. The fact that the B raced successfully at Le Mans and finished every time over a three year campaign is overlooked. The first year as I recall the average speed was 99.9mph and in the sixties, few production cars were capable of that.

In my humble opinion, the MGB and GT will have a third season ahead of them.

I hope not - having a few budget classic cars enables more people to get involved in the whole scene. It also keeps the associated industries alive - these cars need work, maintenance and parts as they get used. If the price starts rising they then become 'investments' - ownership drifts into the preserve of the wealthy, and cars get stuck in collections, rarely seeing the light of day.

Well, I didn't mean that MGBs should be expensive and privileged, but they are noticed, they are likeable and certainly no longer Old People's Cars.

I fear that boat has already sailed, my last V8 roadster sold for just shy of £9k nd would probably sell for around £23k now, previously I’d sold a fully rebuilt near concourse roadster for the same amount that would be at least £18k now. I used to buy rubber bumper GTs with an MOT for £1 - 1.5K similar cars are now around £4K However I do agree that they remain generally affordable and make a great entry into the classic car world. Parts and availability, ease of repair and damn fine looks all help.
