Im loving the current ads for this Hurricane outfit for Morgan drivers , and the tool rolls Shows us all that despite the great changes with the CX and Super3 the company will continue to make cars with natural aircon and drips that require a good spannering from time to time.

I’ve never liked that type of “romper suit”. Basically a form of “onesie” that might be worn when attending a house of certain activity. I am ok with a normal boiler suit type of overall for doing jobs though. As for the too bag, well, looks nice for display but any tools I need are in basic tool rolls tucked away out of sight. The jack and wheel change/puncture goo that came with the Plus Four are in nice enough bags though.

Does anyone know how many (or any) MMC sold of the Orlebar Brown Special Edition ? https://morgan-motor.com/morgan-orlebar-brown-holiday-ready-super-3/ Just seemed to me like a pointless attempt at diversifying the customer base.

Maybe not pointless. Limited editions/specials are a common ploy to get a few extra sales. The attraction is the limited number and special bling/designer name etc.. It is also a way to entice sales to clear stocks of components/end of line models. In 2004 the Rover Plus8 was phased out with a limited edition to commemorate ( read entice) sales. Extras addd to distinguish them. Also the Brooklands models of trads and M3Ws. Plus 4 Super sports limited to 50 cars but a step above the standard car. Babydoll cars. CTX multi terrain cars.... A nice plus point of speccing a new Mog is the ability to customise. Not quite as obvious as a limited edition but creates a uniqueness. Krazy Horse have specced and made some interesting one-off cars. Remember SP1? A one off bespoke car. I liked the look of one Plus Four in two tone ( gloss and matt) blue with several non standard fittings. So, how much extra £ for a limited edition? Value for money? Perceived extra appeal visually and ego boost? On my last factory visit pre Covid they had a M3W in despatch. Pink paint with red leather. Apparently headed out to the aaFar East. Hmmmmmm It would be nice to see how many of the limited edition Super3 get made though. I think previous special editions all sold quickly by pre-order.

When I was selling cars in the early 80's the 'special edition' was a regular thing. A stripe, different hub caps, a near side wing mirror, we'd come up with (silly) names and one would get chosen, it would go in the local paper and we'd wait for the weekend rush....... It was only a few quids worth of bits but it was amazing how folk went for it.
I always thought it was a shame that MMC felt they had to go down the special edition route when they have/had such a unique product.

I'm sure that with over 200 Mogs currently for sale on PistonHeads, anything a bit different that might help shift them would be welcomed by dealers and private sellers alike.

You're absolutely right Peter, times have certainly changed. There's a hell of a lot of cars for sale at the moment. With so much choice only really committed sellers who price aggressively stand a chance of selling if their car isn't really special.

..... only really committed sellers who price aggressively stand a chance of selling if their car isn't really special. "In the present climate" (sorry, horrible expression, not mine...), sellers still seem to think that their car is "an investment" so should be worth a lot more now than when they bought it, say 3-10 years ago. Therein lays the problem: the tradtional interpretation of "an investment" is that whatever sum you invest will see an increase in the capital sum or provide a regular income (or both). In the real world, we know that depreciation (yes, even for Morgans) means that hey, you are likely to be out of pocket. And as for the regular income, how about a reality check that says every year you throw money at your car (service/repairs, tyres, MoT, insurance, petrol etc etc...) so what you are doing is paying for the enjoyment of being jolted along those apocryphal country roads, mopping-up the water ingress, and going home to "fettle" (i.e mostly fix) your P&J. It could be worse: maybe you (also) drink, smoke, go on cruises, pay alimony or care home fees, do a lot of expensive DIY, and/or buy precious first editions. Get the picture ? If you want to sell your Mog, take a step back and recognise that your car is only worth what somebody is prepared to pay for it.
