I'm surprised at your experience Neil, Taffy who is the exclusive Morgan mechanic is ex REME and any work he has done on our Mog's has been to a very high standard. Julian is the Morgan Sales Manager, as I am sure that you already know, and again I have bought Mog's and other cars through him and would not hesitate to recommend him and SGT highly. Obviously, I have no connection with the business other than as a satisfied customer. I would like to Second Aeromans comments, SGT being the supplier and servicing agent of the two Morgans we have owned. 'Taff' is an excellent technician as is Julian a Salesman. However, It is a small Morgan Dealership within a much larger company (with only one person of each specialising on their Morgans). Obviously, they can also be busy and cannot always be available to a cold caller (myself included). My recommendation would be to go down there with your Mog and meet up with Taff and get to know him to ensure that he is aware of your problems. He is always keen to know his customers and their cars and I am sure that Julian will take more than great interest in ensuring that they are providing excellent service.

Thanks for your comments and if I wasn't 140 miles away I would have done as you suggested. To be fair to SGT, Julian rang me today and we had a long chat about the servicing issues. He was very apologetic and he promised to discuss the matter with the service manager. I would also like to say that SGT did query the gear change being stiff when I test drove the car and they arranged for the remedial work to be carried out. They did this off their own back and I was very pleased with the result. I have found Julian to be very honest and helpful and have no issues with the way the car was presented and sold. I hope that puts the record straight. Update:- I had a long chat with Taff and it appears that the definition of play in the front wheel bearings is down to the judgement and experience of the technician. It was checked at the service and deemed to be acceptable. The leaky radiator blank plug remains a mystery and could have happened during the time I have had the car. I must give SGT due credit, that they followed up the problem and I am satisfied with the outcome.

Frank, I'll have to give them a go. The dealer I have used for the last ten years made a real poor job last time.
When I picked it up they said they had rebalanced the wheels because of steering vibration but the rear LHS was distorted.
I got it home after a nightmare drive. I replaced the LHS wheel with the spare. Things improved but not fully.
Despite the check list saying they had checked the damper blades & tyre pressures I decided to check them.
The damper blades were loose and the tyre pressures all over the place so that it had St Vitus' dance. Now all fixed by me.
The inspection list also shows that the spark plugs were checked as was the gap. As the car is now heading for it's 15th birthday in August I decided over the break to change the plugs.
To do that you need to remove the bonnet. The bonnets screws hadn't been touched at the service (or if they were the patina on the brass wasn't damaged), and as you can't access the 1 st & 2nd plug without removing the bonnet it got me to thinking that the garage really hadn't checked them.
NGK recommend BKRG6E plugs for the T16 gapped at 0.8mm. The plugs were BKRG6ES which NGK say is a less preferred alternative copper core. #s 1,2 & 4 were at around the correct gap. # 3 cylinder was gapped at 0.6mm.
The car now drives much better.
Live & learn I guess.

John, The only garages that we use locally for our Mog's are SGT, I've already given Taffy a write-up above, and Millers Commercial Motors who despite the name are Mog enthusiasts and know the cars backwards. The owners post here as 'Oldtimers' and 'Cerealsurfer' and 'Young-One' are part of their family and also Morgan racers (see the hotlink above) and owners respectively. You won't go wrong imho with either option. Cheers Brian

Brian, I have used Millers in the past successfully & I must admit it will be either them or SGT next time.
Miller's are far closer to where I live near Great Missenden.

I am happy to agree with that, Millers have always been very easy to deal with and my experience in the early days was very good.
Having "certification badges" and access to the factory is valuable, having practical knowledge and personal involvement is equally effective.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Thanks for all the comments guy's we are very flattered. We certainly do love our Morgans and like to see a job done right!! We may not be a main dealer or advertise much, but we aim for our quality of service and work to speak for itself. Happy for anyone to pop in next time you pass High Wycombe on the M40. P.S. I can also pass on a tip that there is a cheapest petrol I generally see anywhere in the Esso/Shell just off the motorway between us and the junction and we are just under half a mile from the junction so seeing as you are already 1/2 way might as well pop in.
