Anyway, gauges look ok so my once stirred emotions are now back to enjoyment mode.

Update......the gauges failed again. Just cut out on decent roads. On a good open road I braked hard and they came back on. Again the small screen was ok so I had speed showing and I assume the warning light system was ok. None came on. Exactly the same as the previous failure. No tacho/speedo/temp/fuel gauges working.everything else ok
The car is currently back with the dealer. They have said it is a loom problem behind the dash. The hope is there is a spare in the factory. Not a full loom, just a section behind the dash appears to be needed. The usual hopeful comment about MMC and spares availability has been made so it’s wait and see.
I used Morgan breakdown to trailer the car to the dealer as it is under warranty and only about 4 months old ( 4.5k miles done).
We are due to go to a Taffmog Christmas weekend on Fri next week. Which car will be using I wonder?
I was looking forward to some Mid/N Wales/Shropshire/Hereford runs chosen to suit the weather.

Sounds like behind dash loom connector issue. No wiring info offered by MMC now though as has been the case for a few years it seems.

I am still waiting for the petrol tank sender from when Williams did the service last year - 9 months now. Pathetic.

Every Morgan model has "Quirks", and the CX models are still revealing their "Quirks".

Morgan has had supply issues with spares as long as I've been involved, which is not that long. Trying to get the parts to add over-riders to my 2012 Plus 4 in 2013, when that model was still in production took WEEKS. I think MMC are reluctant to supply parts which are needed for production.

A good friend once had a Range Rover, which would totally cut out on the road. Not just the dash, everything. It was dangerous, and the dealer couldn't fix it, so he got rid.

Parts destined for production are sacrissanct and probably more so with larger manufacturers.

As above. Production components are ordered in line with production numbers. A move many years ago from holding stocks that tied up money to JIT. In som3 cases the supplier of components can be required to hold a small buffer stock as part of the contract to supply. Restrictions on sales to outside customers also included. Windscreens is one example for Morgan.
Melvyn Rutter was usually decent for ordering parts and he bought up supplies from MMC. Maybe there is scope to bring him back into the fold as a spares stock holder. His stocks could be included in orders to suppliers. A pretty easy merge of OE and after market numbers. We did similar in the radiator factory making for the vehicle assembly factories, outside customers in replacement parts business and even a warehouse for others. BL vehicles in particular. We made new rads for most discontinued models held in a warehouse.
MMC could adopt a similar attitude that would greatly enhance their customer care.
I think Tesla has issues with getting spares for repairs. Similar for many ( most) manufacturers.
Things don’t look good when even minor parts unavailability keep cars off the road.
Yes, changes in models, designs mean a sometimes confused/complex parts list but it can be managed up to a decent standard.
Poor after sales leads to poor reputation and longer term loss of revenue as sales fall away.
